These "druggies" are our teachers,neighbors,family.80% of all opioid addicts became dependent from legitimate medical conditions. Doctors dispensing them like candy is the real problem.Addiction is a disease.

There's your ANSWERS right there. if folks come in, asking for certain meds, they are the specific targets, if people come in with severe pain, and DONT GIVE A DAMN HOW YOU HELP THEM...those are the TRUE patients. I'm a Chronic pain patient, and if I'm hurting, I don't XARE what you do...just give me a reprieve..PLEASE!!!

'crack down' means diagnosing all pain as drug seeking, gaslighting and invalidating..and not evaluating an treating the condition....even without narcotics....that is how I am treated....i have permanent damage to my arm because I was diagnosed as drug seeking when I didn't ask for narcotics

The take away is to never say you have chronic pain. (This only helps if you do not have any scary substance in your urine) The care you will receive will actually be appropriate. No one is going to care about you as much as you.

Lmao so what? Unless you're the #1 most addicted person in the world, somebody is always going to be worse off than you. People like you who dismiss the seriousness of somebody's experiences just because somebody else had a worse experience are so obnoxious. "Get real dude"-what's "real" about being a condescending douche?

I have lupus and RA if I need to go to the hospital they would absolutely never give you more than five days worth of medication and I live in Connecticut now which is the change the law of narcotics and they are dispensing but the ER would never give you a months worth of any drug they always say you have to see your primary care physician in two days if you're really in bad shape they will admit you to the hospital in which case admitted because of my pain and dehydration/infection

Glam BadBarbie I agree. When I heard the comment regarding the ER and a 30-day supply, I automatically thought this fact is way overstated. The times I have gone to the ER for kidney stones, I walked out with maybe a 3 to 4 day supply of narcotics. The whole idea is that the ER treats the acute episode, while you’re then encouraged to see your PCP for follow-up care, or in my case, a urologist.

I suffer from Lupus too, and I am a man. I know what it means to be in pain daily. When you go to the ER, they do their best. At least from my experience. I have had a jerk doctor a couple of times, but a lot of doctors will have sympathy on chronic diseases like RA and Lupus. I have had some doctors tell me they wish they could give me more than a couple of days worth of medicine, but the law stops them. I have been blessed to have sympathetic experiences in the ER. It is people like this man here who lies to get pills. They make it hard for the rest of us who really needs these meds to make it daily. I sure didn’t ask to be stricken with Lupus, and need meds daily. If I could be 100% healthy again I would take it without question.

Do these docs not realize that even though someone has chronic pain, that pain CAN flare acutely? Just because someone takes a narcotic for chronic pain doesn't mean that person can't have pain out of the ordinary that needs acute treatment? Having a. blanket policy that they won't treat ANYONE that has chronic pain is truly ridiculous.

@@bradlyc5142 Flares can be bad enough where the "other drugs" don't do much. A person might be able to get by on the non-narcotic stuff during ordinary days, but need something stronger for the occasional flare.

@@bradlyc5142 'we' thank you for demonstrating the problem...you have NO CLUE what real excruciating pain is...what do you propose? nothing helps me at that point other than narcotic...BTW, i typically have 3 episodes on average per year....most of the time, I only need 1 dose of narcotic...which makes my head feel horrible...by the time I sleep if off, I am okay....last year I needed a total of 6 doses....this year...none so far....but I am labeled a drug seeker when I have an acute injury and refused treatment.....can't even get a bottle of 10 pills per year to keep on hand in case of an incident in the middle of the night...can't go to the ER....

So what the ER generally gives is a prescription for a week or less. And with the ER copays being so expensive (75-350 bucks) you could take that money and get stuff on the street that would last longer.

ONE MONTH supply out of the Emergency Room?? okay even conceding this video was posted over 5 years ago now, that is not AT ALL common. And I'm someone, unfortunately, with more than my fair share of ER experience, just on my kidney stone history alone (my instances are into the double digits going back 20 years). But also, this guy talking about going to so many different ERs, which means he has to visit ones further and further away from where he lives. Unless the doctor he gets is totally oblivious and/or a moron, there will at least be a broaching of the topic of why you're visiting an ER that's so far away from where you live, just that by itself can be suspicious to them.

It's not hard. Go to an ER far from home, use a fake name and dob (say you left your ID at home), check rentals in the area to find an empty address to use as your own and you're golden.
