SAN DIEGO'S BIGGEST SWELL IN 15 YEARS. The biggest swell in years hit the coast of California last week and provided epic surf.
While this video doesn't showcase the biggest waves of the swell it does showcase some of the best barrels and local talent in San Diego. For the best viewing experience watch this video on your big screen in 4K.
Check out our previous video called "BLACK'S BEACH GOES XL DURING CALIFORNIA'S 50 YEAR STORM" to see big wave highlights. Surfline named this swell top five largest west-northwest swells of the last 15 years. 2023 is off to a great start!
We will also be releasing a video from La Jolla Cove which will feature additional clips from Blacks Beach and potentially Sandspit in Santa Barbara. The Wild West SoCal recap will continue while we prep for more historic California surf!

Your videos are great! You actually let the whole wave and surfer start and finish each ride no matter the consequence. When one falls you let the viewer see when he or she pops up etc.. People can learn a lot from watching these. Especially all the big rock footage and definitely the drain pipe left as well. I personally like to see how long someone gets held down or who gets out of the way or if the board is broken on and on. Again, great job keep them coming! I guess what I’m trying to say is they are all not just quick edit clips😉

It’s the junior surf open. Their families are supporting them. And a swell (group of waves) is not the same as a wave. You can have a big swell that doesn’t necessarily result in a big wave. And vice versa.

Hey guys, swells are groups of waves. When you look at the wave height they are riding.. that is called surf. You can have a large swell that doesnt necessarily result in large surf. And vice versa.

Oceanside pier was bigger and less crowded. Unbelievable, glad I didnt make the drive from oside. Surfed it on the last wsw and was bigger, less consistent though.

Why in the H377 don't you tell exactly where (which beach location) you are recording this at??? Not everyone who watches is a surfer who would know the location. Just because you post a video does not relieve you of the responsibility to report on your post, to tell the story behind your post. A video posted all by itself is pretty much CRAP, explains nothing, says little. GROW UP, PEOPLE!☹

Now - anyone who surfs San Diego, will probably know exactly where it is...but for those who don't - nobody in the lineup is missing their company. And there's an unwritten rule of discretion, about not naming specific local surf spots, that this channel appears to follow. Kudos to them. It's a reef in La Jolla. You happy now?
