Chris Connelly, a former Chief, played a really good game against his former team, on both offense and special teams. Kick coverage gunner and made a crucial catch in 3rd and long.

He played out of his mind good (with the 49ers) and he was always Mr 400 with KC. Might catch a touchdown pass, probably won't. Will always block willingly and deftly. Can't count on him beyond Just A Guy Off The Street.

I really think the special teams is why the chiefs won the game, butlker was booming kicks and their punter was solid plus the blocked extra point and the muffed punt was huge and that was the difference in the game

Kyle Bananahands is infectious. He needs to tap into his inner head coach and stop being the Offensive Coordinator. His Defensive Coordinator outplayed him. Once Kyle can win one he’s a Shanahan again, until he can get 30points in a superbowl he’s not a Genius. Play to win Kyle, not to lose.

To me, this Super Bowl was a total indictment of Kyle Shanahan. He had by far the more talented team and he blew it by not running the ball in the 3rd quarter, again!! And he didn't even know the rules in overtime!! Pathetic. I'd have fired him on the spot.

Shanahan seems to never trust his running game when the game is on the line. It's strange those critical third downs late were all incompletions. For a supposed genius run designer this is a disappointment. We would think he'd have something in his back pocket that can help ice the game or at least milk the clock.

In any football game that's close, you can pick and choose several individual plays that either won the game or lost the game. I'm just really glad that none of those defining plays was a bad ref call or no-call.

In many cases the Achilles goes because there is already a diagnosed/undiagnosed tear. Wouldn't be surprised if Greenlaw had a calf strain in the lead up to the game. Of course then we get into the thorny question of whether he knew the full extent of the injury. In almost every case the player will try to soldier on. But I think special consideration should be taken with calf strains because a torn Achilles is so often a career-killer. At the very least you are looking at the best part of 18 months to fully rehab the injury. And what condition you'll be in thereafter is in the lap of the gods.

You are my 2 fav NFL analysts. Being a Giants fan, I have to love Chris Simms as his father is on the Pantheon, but I would still like Chris regardless. But you guys are part of the NFL ecosystem, get access to real video replays. Not static pics. That is lame. I know its NOT your fault, but 3-5 secs of clips along with your excellent analyst goes a long way. A pic is worth a thousand words, but a video is a million words. Keep up the good work.

Don’t feel that way. They’ll break through. Give it time. The problem with the Niners is they’re focusing too much on misdirection, slight-of-hand, and finesse, which doesn’t consistently work when playing good physical defenses like the Chiefs, and which is why they also loss this year to Baltimore, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. As soon as Kyle realizes this and just plays a tough physical football game AND JUST RUNS THE BALL MORE, they’ll win.

On the critical 3rd and 4 play, the Niner right guard (2nd stringer; in for injured 1st stringer) missed his assignment to block Jones (#95), allowing Jones to blast through to Purdy unabated, not allowing Purdy time to do anything but unload the ball in the general direction of the receiver. I was hoping for a CMC run, but Shanahan was favoring passing plays the whole game.

What are you talking about, SF had three 3 and outs starting the 2nd half with no runs mostly during those 3 outs. They stop running the ball and did not put pressure on the defense so they would be worn down in the last minutes of the game. Shanahan is not a game manager or good strategist for coaching a super bowl game. He is a good OC.

I’m not interested in tearing down the Niner receivers but they get over hyped a lot. Deebo is a good receiver, who has been slowed by injuries. Deebo is not a dominant receiver, Kyle Shanahan understands how to use him to his strengths. Neither is CeeDee Lamb, Stefon Diggs or Ja’Marr Chase. That’s not intended to be disrespectful because they are talented at what they do. In the Superbowl specifically Deebo and Kittles were obviously playing with injuries.

It’s not just about what you need to know it’s about what you’re giving Patrick Mahomes in that specific game. I’m not giving Mahomes 4 plays to score. If they go first there’s a chance they kick a field goal on a 4th and short instead Mahomes walked them down like we all knew he would. If I have the lesser QB and am one of the worst 3rd down teams in the league I would ensure my guy got 4 and yes “knew what he needed to get,” but in this situation more so to deny Mahomes “knowing what he needs to get”

Kyle is just not a smart head coach. After the mahomes interception, Kyle should have called 2 running plays. They were at the chiefs 44 yard line, they could have gotten into field goal range and at the very least gotten points after the turn over. As a coach, you should always try and get at least a field goal after a turnover in the opponents territory, they are basically handing you free points, take them. Even if it was just a field, that would have been the difference in the game.

Shanahan is a great coach, just not a Super Bowl winning coach. He’s slowly morphing into Marv Levy. They’re lucky they play in a crappy division, so they’ll probably still make the playoffs, but I see a steady decline for this team. This was the best chance they had. Now they have to pay a bunch of players, will lose coordinators, and players. Oh by the way Adam Peters left for the Commanders. Not looking good.

kyle shanahan doesnt have what it takes to win a superbowl, and his silver spoon ego disallows him for taking responsibility for losing 3 leads in 3 superbowls. this is not to say, Shanahan cannot design an offense, build a roster, or build a coaching staff. what it does say, is he consistently gets out coached and cannot win on the biggest stage.

Taking the ball first in OT cuz you dont know the rules? 2nd and 4 from KC 9 yard line and you cant convert let alone your play calls are a run tonthe right behind bum ass Mckivitz and instead of giving the ball to McCaffrey again you call some gimmicky play design which Mckivitz blows the protection and we settle for another FG? Whoever's decision to get rid of our pro bowl kicker for a rookie in a all in boom or bust all or nothing super bowl run needs their ass kicked. I knew moody was going to choke. Mike got all gun shy about running bc CMC put it on the ground and got away from what our identity is. O line run blocks they poor at pass blocking which left at least 2tds off the board. The muffed punt return though just no excuse if your not ray ray then get the hell away! We had them frustrated and yelling at each other and not able to put together a drive and gave them the ball in own red zone. Then greenlaw goes down. Can we not have one damn year where we are not plagued by injuries. If we had all our starters on d we'd of kicked the shit out of them. Your welcome chief's we gave u another one. No Kyle Shanahan showed what he is as a play caller. Brock played great. Kyle Shanahan has the most inconsistent play calling. They drove down the field in overtime and were in the red zone and called two terrible plays on 3rd and then kicking a field goal on 4th and 4. They got a first down going for it on 4th and 3 earlier during the game.

@@Fullcollapse1Not true at all. Mahomes blew Brady out in Tampa during the regular season a few years ago. He lost to him twice in the playoffs. Once in his 1st year as a starter & in the Superbowl with 4 starting linemen missing & playing with turf toe. Brady got those wins but context matters.

Kyle is the NFLs most disappointing OC of all time. Three blown Superbowls due to stupid play calling. He should be told he's not a genius. 49ers win in spite of him. He's gotten his roles in the NFL due to nepotism no performance

The only place Mahomes had the advantage was with his legs surprisingly. Any person that knows the game knows that this game was lost 100% because of Kyle Shanahan. He needs to stop being the OC and just be head coach.

@@Lacdad0215 I understand your emotional today but don’t turn on your coach. You are great quarterbacks make plays when they matter despite coaching. Also shanahan called a pretty good game. He got away from the run which was the issue. When you have to rely on your running back to make the offense move then you ain’t winning a Super Bowl. Purdy proved he’s just a more polished Jimmy g. He didn’t look better than Mahomes at all. His biggest plays were screen passes and his receivers bailing him out I.e Jennings.

@@davidnelson4347 Patrick Mahomes longest throw should’ve been an interception… lol Tashuan Gipson didn’t turn his head around to find the ball or that would’ve been an easy pick. It’s not emotional.. it’s factual. Kyle is a great play caller but inconsistent. He is a tight ass conservative play caller that went for it on 4th and 3 earlier during the game and got it. By Brock Purdy’s doing… he made the pass to Kittle on that quick out. But didn’t go for it on 4th and 4 after Brock drove them all the way in to the red zone in OT.

Time to get rid of Shanahan!! He's OVERRATED, didn't win in Atlanta and sho as hell not winning in SF!! Every SB he stop running the ball and gets very predictable.
