That was a red rock crab, not a dungeness. I don’t know about Washington, but here in Oregon we can keep those any size 24 per day because they do a lot of harm to the dungeness populations. That could have been a delicious addition to the salmon if it was allowed, oh well. Good job and beautiful footage my friend. 👍

I live on the Washington coast and we have both King (Chinook) & Silver (Coho) fish runs up our rivers and bay areas. I prefer the taste of a Silver, and we like to oven bake on bottom rack at 375-F in a foil lined glass baking dish with butter, salt, pepper, and some McCormick California Style garlic powder. Cover dish with foil on top. Sometimes we add a little lemon juice (me yes-wife no) ... so not too often. Cooking time varies dependent upon size - 35 to 45 min. average. Absolutely the best - GarOnnTeeeed!!!

After catching more than a thousand King Salmon I prefer to wait 2 days before I fillet them and cook them. No doubt this fish was likely fantastic but if the fish was bled, gutted, and kept on ice for 2 days before filleting the taste and texture is even more amazing. The two days of aging allows the fish to soften a bit and the flavors are released. I saw Julia Child say this 35 years ago and I thought she was crazy. After catching and cooking salmon for 35 years I now totally agree. If you ever get the opportunity to try this I know you will be converted. I caught two King salmon today and they will rest buried on ice in a cooler with the drain open. On Sunday we will have a feast. Great video Rob. Trolling for large KIng Salmon with barb less hooks is lots of fun. You never know if you are going to get the fish until it is in the net. If barbs were used the fishing would not be nearly as exciting.
