Isa ito sa mga example na if u have good chemistry and good system, you will win it all. Napaka nostalgic lang talaga sakin ng team. Sarap balik-balikan grabe 💯

2014 is definitely a good year for basketball fans and PBA

Solid. And PJ simon for me sobrang consistent on/off night si James Yap alam mo na nanjan si PJ simon.

Easily one of the best local sports YT channels out there. So cool to see someone from PH emerge with a Jon Bois-ish storytelling and production. Was expecting more time spent on breaking down San Mig Coffee team as against the other great teams in the PBA. Felt a bit all over the place but overall, still heads and shoulders above the rest of local content creators

San Mig also had the best defense in the PBA at the time, 99 ang DRTG nila. Anchored by Ping, who was a very versatile and smart defender in addition to his his hustle. Barroca, Reavis, JDV helped. I didn't like San Mig at the time, kasi ref magic daw, but later on, I loosened my feelings on refs, and saw that that was a quality team on both ends. So ayun. Cone did a masterclass.

You’re right. Heliocentric systems have a ceiling… and that ceiling depends on the star player’s ability to dominate, innovate, adapt, and adjust all at the same time season after season. Pop’s Motion Offense, Tim’s evolved triangle, and Tab’s flow offense ensured that the team has the option/s of going a different direction at any given night, and this eases the load off their star players.

San Mig Coffee yung team na on paper, not the most talented nor the most funded team. Yung SMC kasi, sa Ginebra at sa Petron naglalagay ng big money to get big players. Each player knows their role and each player buys the system. Meron kang Rafi Reavis, Joe Devance at Marc Pingris to hold the fort and do the dirty work, James Yap to bail you out kapag hindi gumana yung offense, Mark Barroca yung spark plug mo, Ian Sangalang at Justin Melton na kahit rookie pa lang, contributors na at PJ Simon - The Scoring Apostle. Maraming shiny toys ang ibang teams dati. Pero sila, a well-oiled machine. Ganda talaga ng content mo Hoops Highlight! Kung hindi makapagbigay ng excitement si PBA ngayon, at least nanjan ka to showcase the things that made PBA great before.

@@johnlestermadrid2063 iba yung talent sa depth ng team. Mas talented ang Ginebra na may Slaughter, mas batang Tenorio, Japhet Aguilar at Chris Ellis. Mas talented ang Petrol/SMB na may Arwind, Cabagnot, Chris Lutz at Junemar. Pati TNT na may Alapag, Kelly Williams, RDO at Jayson Castro. Talented ≠ depth. Kaya kahit mas talented yung ibang team, nakapag grandslam pa ang San Mig Coffee.

as a BIG San Mig fan, this was such a nice fragment of the past. I honestly don't view any of them above the other (except Quickmelt himself) because they really played as a collective unit. it's not just James Yap. not just PJ. not just Pingris. not just Barroca. as you said, they played BASKETBALL. and one way to play the sport is to play as ONE.

Miami Heat 2012 and 2013 is an exception because of LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, then they are also good executing inbound plays coming from a time out.

Glad to watch this video, been a Purefoods/San Mig Coffee fan since James Yap entered the League, it was different back then, the offense runs with Yap in the perimeter and Kirby on the low block. When Cone handled the team, kitang kita mo yung system nya works, it's like poetry in motion sabi nga. Don't get me wrong, Magnolia is playing great basketball, pero iba lang talaga yung appeal ng San Mig back then. Maybe because gaya ng sabi mo, mas na aappreciate natin ngayon how their basketball plays datin.

Every player compliments each other due to each of them understands their role. The fluidity of the offence flow was beautiful to watch, walang ball dominant. They all play base on the designed play. However this grandslam feat was 2-3 years in the making when Coach Tim started to coach them. I remember yung nag top 1 ang Bmeg with twice to beat advantage na natalo sa 8th seed Powerade on the PH cup 2011. Tapos I think swerte lang ung championship nila sa Comm Cup same year with Denzel Bowles’ 2 freethrows to send it into overtime. This same season (2011-12), nabuwag ung “Sampayan brigade” ng Purefoods (Adducul was not renewed, Maierhofer traded for Maliksi and Kerby requested for trade after PH cup), pa-peak palang si Pingris to his prime, off the bench si Barocca, JDV kakalipat lang which he became an essential personnel sa grandslam later on. Madaming changes and need gawin for the team to build the chemistry. Tapos i do agree na maganda sila panoorin. Comparing it to the Alaska grandslam, wala kang masasabi na “si x Player ang nagpanalo kaya grandslam”. Alaska had their big three (Johnny, Bong H, and Jolas). Sama mo pa ung complimentary guys na sina Juinio, Cariaso and even their import si Sean Chamber. It would be same sa San Mig coffee na me big three (Ping, Yap, Simon) and their own complimentary guys like JDV, Barroca, even Yancy anchoring the triangle offence.
@renzmarriondelim4795
@renzmarriondelim4795 Жыл бұрын
What I felt like na underrated sa era ng San Mig nayan is Yancy De Ocampo. The triangle offense perfectly complimented his play style. There was even a conference na sya ang Starting Center. He even had better numbers than Sonny Thoss. He also had a game where he scored 22. Sayang. Akala ko yun na ang mag resurrect sa career nya for him to be able to jump into the allstar bigman level. But then the next conferences, he was relegated to the bench and was barely used. But he really effectively anchored the triangle. Sayang. He was always included sa mga shortlists ni Enzo Flojo sa backup center positions noon sa Gilas 2.0 ni Chot Reyes.
@apol_16
@apol_16 Жыл бұрын
Medyo nadisrupt lang kasi yung career nya like what you said napunta sa bench tapos add mo pa napunta sya sa San Miguel na back up sya ni JMF lalo nawalan sya ng playing time. If nabigyan lang sya ng magandang break sa career, he could have pulled out the same thing like sa kapatid nyang si RDO.
