I'm a 7th grader and sadly we don't do this, but I've written a novel by myself (100,000 words) in two months, it's just as hard as you make it.

I'm eleven and I'm writing a novel about these two high school boys who are living in the '80s, and one of them has a crush on the other. Once he confesses and if things go smoothly, he still needs to learn how to maintain a healthy gay relationship in the midst of the AIDs epidemic. Yeah... I don't know if I'm gonna be able to tell my parents about that, lmao.

I’m 12 too and I have a novel the length of 100k words. It’s gory and bloody and my parents are very confused, but I definitely want to work on it until I get to publish it.

Yes, but at the end of an essay, we just feel relief. These students were also excited, and they had a sense of acomplishment. Also, the writing process is fun.

A creative piece of fiction is far more enjoyable than an essay. The writing process is entirely different with structure, character, plot, theme, lessons all coming from the person writing it, instead of being predetermined for a school essay piece and graded based off of that. Passion for a project goes a long way.
