I make wedding rings from 750 rose gold in sand casting and engrave them on the surface and on the sides. I put so-called Millegriff beads on the edges. The video shows all the steps of the wedding ring process from start to finish. Crafted and engraved by hand.
To start, I create a working sketch with dimensions. The casting models are then designed on the PC with Fusion 360 and created in the 3D printer. Then I press the rings into the sand, remove them again and fill the resulting cavity with liquid gold. When it comes to casting, it is important to me that the rings come without a solder joint (brings bad luck) and "from a single source" (brings luck) 😊
Then I file the rings and draw the engraving pattern.
Now comes the engraving: first the sides in a dainty, shiny Luminesque technique, then the outlines of the upper surfaces in so-called deep-relief engraving. Then I engrave the rings from the inside with names and dates. Finally, the background of the upper engraving is removed with a very small cutter.
The background is blackened in the traditional way with lamp black (industrially produced "precious black") and Dammar Varnish, both available from artists' supplies. This allows a beautiful and durable 3D effect to be achieved.
Thank you for your interest - I hope you enjoy the video 🌹🌹🌹
