This lecture makes me want to contest the idea that humor can be taught.

Anyone else notice his voice kind of sounds like Chandler from Friends? Generally, Chandler seems to be the funniest of the guys, and he has the highest voice. Perhaps a higher voice on males makes them funnier. How many barritone or bass voiced comedians do you know?

Stewart Lee’s stand up is a good example of long form humour, since he’s skilled at maintaining tension for a long time, and inserting mini-punchlines on the journey to the final punchline, that give people something to snack on before the big meal at the end.

I love the comment about a Han Solo movie where it's just Han shooting first.

this guy is pretty damn cool, i loved that. partly cuz he doesn't subscribe to that 'inherent talent' bullshit - which we hear too much of - and he can back up his view.

No, Howard, You are not evil. You are providing products of value which your customers agree with you are worth what they pay. Otherwise they wouldn't. Your products are Hours of Entertainment. That fills a desperate need in this world.

My takeaway is that humour springs from contempt of his audience. And then crafting the delivery of it.
