Sandi, it brought me so much joy to watch your open the pigment cigars and to begin to explore them! You inspire so many and thank you for all of the ways you share your process and techniques so freely! Your joy is contagious!

That stick looks like a Santo Palo wood stick which contains its own natural oils to help relax and relieve stress. As well as the white sage that was attached! wow what a gift! so so so generous My cat is wondering why Im making so many whoa and wow sounds! Im so loving it ….that blue you like reminds me of a blue jean color! the dust or shavings I would put in water! so precious…good for you! love the paintings at the campground ..so beautiful Sandi…

Shout out to Rebecca Wallace and Pip Seymour, the artists and makers behind these ancient drawing materials. So glad to see Jeanne is one of their official distributors in the US. They handpick pigments, especially historical one, which are very sought after by restoration and conservation professionals. I use their watercolours and got some dry pigments in one of my UK trips. They deserve all the praise Sandi gives to their art materials. They have a very special work ethic and it shows in their materials. Search for their name to see their pure pigments in rock format still. They are amazing!!! Thanks for showcasing their materials. Can't wait to see what you create with them!

I'm going to stick my neck out a little and say that I am a little disappointed. I hope that at some point you will consider adding one of your classes to Jeanne Oliver's platform. I have purchased many classes on her site because her platform is wonderful. I appreciate when artist's are willing to become part of a community. I rarely purchase a stand alone class from an artist. I love your youtube channel and have promoted it whenever I can on FB because you have so much to offer.. but I must admit, I was hoping you would have considered the community of artists that are so giving.

This Nashville pastel artist is drooling… even though I have pastels in every imaginable hue, value, and texture. My palette box is a wonder to behold. The funny thing is the first thing I do when I get a new pastel is break it. People are horrified when I do it given how expensive they are. But it must be done. And it’s easy enough to put shattered pigment back together.

Ohhh I loved these pigment sticks so much until I went to the website and saw the price...😳 Definitely out of my budget lol, but I will enjoy watching you work with them in future videos! ☺️

The feather is for your Palo Santo and bits of sage. You light it and fan with the feather to keep it lit. Finishing the video now. 😄

I enjoy using Golden's airbrush medium instead of water with soft pastels. It extends the gradient wash and the colors glow. The high flow medium might work well too. Have some on the way to try. Cheers NZ

Sandi. I am overjoyed that Jeanne Oliver was so generous with you. I spent 14 years creating and building and running an art studio and instruction program for artists with developmental disabilities. I've mentored so many other artists. Artists in the studio and the artists I hired to mentor them. But I never had time to really focus on my own art. I left that position, the program, and the artists, at the beginning of 2020, to start my own journey and identity as an artist, and then bam, pandemic. I recognize a challenge from a greater spirit than my own, to hang tight, when I see it. I'm strong. Bring it on!

I got my inktense blocks yesterday and broke them in 3 pieces for plein air, in the studio and one to store for later. You inspired me 😊

Wow, these are so natural! Lovely colours. I recommend using Pastelmat for soft pastels. You won't have that much dust. You can rub the dust into the paper instead of throwing it (basically the pigment) into the bin. Pastelmat was a game changer for me.

Oh what a wonderful gift! I ordered a few before your video was over! The pastels would be a wonderful decoration sitting in a wooden bowl. Love your channel!

Amazing video. The paintings you did on your trip were all gorgeous. My favorite was the last one you showed that you said you had wanted to do more to, but i thought it was just so great. The storm clouds in that one are fantastic.

Your pastel work is gorgeous! Perhaps you will think about doing some large paintings? Loved “Whistling Duck”, and the landscapes done in your big book, and also the sheets of paper from the camping trip.
