I love carrying the fisheye lens around with skiing and skateboarding with my friends. Phenomenal quality and definitely worth the money.

I’m looking to get some filming with bokeh effect, for specific vlogging segments. Don’t know a lot about lenses. Would any of these be usable for that? Everywhere I look people say getting filmed bokeh effect on a iPhone is really hard because of the lens, this would be a really cheap alternative to getting a dslr

It really depends on what type of videos you want to make. The Macro, Telephoto and Fisheye obviously offer a very unique and distinctive look, so you'll need to use those in specific applications. Whereas the Wide lens could be substituted in place of your normal phone lens and just give you a bigger field of view - so you could use it pretty much all the time. So it really depends on what you want to use them for in your videos, then you can choose the most appropriate ones!

Difficult to say, there are pros and cons for both. I think that there is better value in the sandmarc lenses though: I prefer the screw-lock mechanism because it's a more secure method of attaching your lenses. The build quality is also fantastic and the slight differences in image quality with some of the lenses doesn't outweigh the better price you get here.

have you shot video on the lenses? im getting very bad stabilization on my iphone xs when using the sandmarc wide lens

I have shot video with all of the lenses. I can understand the drop in stabilisation - naturally, using a wide-angle you might expect this. I didn't personally find it too drastic in handheld but I would tend to use a tripod for video anyway. Would you say that you have pretty steady hands when shooting handheld normally?

@@insidetechltd i have pretty steady hands normally. with the sandmarc lens i think the stabilization software is getting confused with the wider frame or something and it cant stabilize as much

Yes, i'd imagine you're right there. The stabilisation is optimised for the built-in lenses, but i've personally not experienced any severe problems. Do you think it's too big of a problem for you to use the lenses? Would using a tripod be a viable option?

The clip on mount can be attached to any phone. The phone cases are for the iPhone though

The advantage of the clip on is that you can use pretty much any phone case and the lenses will still fit!

Honestly, it really depends on what type of photo you want to take! Each lens is unique and allows you to take a different type of photo. The wide angle lens changes your image the least, it's the easiest lens to just quickly take a decent picture of anything. But in terms of 'best' it depends on what you want to take a picture of!

Technically you could use the clip to attach them to any phone - but no, these are made for iPhones.

What one would you recommend for car photography

I think the wide angle. Will show off more of the car body. Wouldn’t likely need a tele lens for this scenario and cars generally have too large parts for a macro lens - although it could work. Fisheye is a very specific lens for a certain look - not sure how it fits into car photography.

hi i got the lenses and they do not work on the my iphone 11 pro telephoto camera so why is there threads in front of it ? ... the picture just go dark

Does it look like the sandmarc lens is obstructing the view? This is a common problem people have when trying to use a sandmarc lens with the secondary lens on the iPhone's main camera app. In order to use the sandmarc lenses with the secondary lens, you need to use a third-party app that allows you to select the lens i.e. lightroom. When you use the sandmarc lenses on the ultra wide or telephoto lenses, the iPhone sometimes defaults to the wide lens when using the stock camera app (so the sandmarc lens is obstructing the view, that's why the picture looks dark. So you need to use another camera app that lets you select to use the lens you're after - then everything works fine! I must admit, this should be made a bit clearer and many people have this issue. I hope this helps!

These would be with the clip on (obviously), but I don't believe that Sandmarc currently makes cases for Huawei phones.

I have an iphone 8 plus while my wife has the much smaller iphone 8. Im planning to buy wide and telephoto lenses. Since each lens comes out with its own iphone cover can the lenses be used interchangebly with different covers thanks

They certainly can! So I’d suggest you buy the wide for one phone and then the telephoto for the other phone. Then the lenses are interchangeable for both phones!

With the clip-on mount, yes. But there are no dedicated cases for Android phones at this time - I wouldn't be surprised to see this in the future though!

If you don’t have the lens aligned properly then you can get some quite bad vignetting - drawback of clip on I suppose

The Sandmarc cases are crappy. My case cracked after using it 2 times. The wide lens is impressive and performs great. The lousy case build quality is disappointing.

I've recently checked out their new anamorphic lens and it came with a redesigned case. It was silicon, not plastic, had a more premium and softer inside coating and an embossed logo in the back. The improvement was excellent. Just waiting to hear back from them if this is now the new standard case or whether this is exclusive to the anamorphic lens. I'll let you know!

*Update: The new “pro case” is with the anamorphic lens. Those who already own other sandmarc lenses can just buy the new pro case separately though and use all of their original lenses with it!
