Sandra Bezic & Val Bezic - 1971 World Figure Skating Championships LP

Very rare footage of renowned choreographer and skating commentator Sandra Bezic who skated pairs with her brother Val, competing at the 1971 Worlds in Lyon, France. The commentator for this performance is the 1949 European Champion and 1948 Olympic and World silver medallist, Dr Eva Pawlik of Austria.

Gorgeous, elegant skating with tremendous line and stretch. They both look over six feet tall.

I recognise part of the music from Karen Preston's 1991-1992 SP, I wonder if Sandra suggested the music to her? I think it's from Glazunov's The Seasons.

Matthew Hines I think it seems longer since they’re not doing tricks/elements packed in back to back.

The pairs long program might've been 5 minutes at this time. I know the mens free program was 5 minutes until the 1980-81 season when it went down to 4:30.

This is the gold medal performance, and even this in places reminds me somewhat of ice dance than contemporary pairs figure skating: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bZacoZB1tri3aWg.html

They didnt have their gold dances..at least Val didnt. We both tried our Quickstep at the same test day a couple of years after this video.
