About the talk:
Over many thousands of years, the brilliant celestial nightly displays over the unpolluted dark skies of ancient India led to astronomy becoming an integral part of the rhythm of life, paralleling the cosmic cycles, as ancient Indians sought to make sense of the skies, leading to building up of an enormous corpus of astronomy knowledge. In this talk, the speaker highlights several fascinating facts about ancient Indian astronomy, bringing to fore the deliberate distortions injected by Western agencies.
About the Speaker:
Raj Vedam holds a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with many years of multi-disciplinary experience, and has developed a strong research interest in the history of sciences, mathematics and technology. His research shows unacknowledged but significant contributions of ancient Indians to sciences and math, impacting several civilizations over different periods of time. While Western texts on the subject enforce a parochial narrative sourcing all sciences and math from ancient Greece or Rome or Egypt, Raj Vedam presents contrary facts and evidence to show their indebtedness to the Indian civilization. He has presented his findings in over 200 public talks, several teacher training workshops, several research publications, and offers two courses on the same at Hindu University of America.
Topics covered:
0:00 Prerequisite: To understand antiquity of Indian Civilization
1:00 Frameworks imposed on Historiography - Colonial, Euro-centric, Missionaries, Socialist Academia bias, Marxist

Its a big pity that big industrialists donate millions of dollars to harward which is trying to break india, but not to researchers like Raj, Nilesh etc. Even govt doesn't think of need to find such research.

Exactly. They want their names carved in the hall and corridors of the Ivy league college without regard for their motherland. It is time that Indian student should get out and spread awareness of the lack of funds for research in India . Those research in the western countries will come to India and exploit us again . 'Blackman pleasing the white man ' should stop. What if we happen to rediscover those ancient advanced mathematics by Indian researcher? India will be way ahead of all other countries. But instead, our elite wants to boast of their names up in some corner of those Western University buildings . Let us make a move to Shame these industrialist and their colonial mentality. Young Indian rising up and stand tall, not because of placement in silicon valley but due to the achievement in their own home grown soil carrying on the rich achievement of their ancestors. But kick hindutva out from any interference cause this Bane, abuse of patriotic religious sentiment do nothing but make a mockery of genuine Indian achievement. Their wild claims like cloning, wi- fi, etc in ancient Indians just make us a laughing stock. Real authentic achievement are there but these idiots make it a blind fanatic thing to really make a serious research . Two actions are needed. Make a good image for serious research prospect of the ancient Indian civilization in terms of scientific advancement and stop the long dirty haired sadhus from trying to make profit off these honest endeavours. Make the industrialist shameful to chase clout and prestige with their large donation to foreign research while ignoring the honme scholars who needed the funds very much for a great leap in mathematics and science and for the good of humanity as well

They fund to send there kids and they afraid of Media if you didn't give funds to Harvard your company shares will dip, you won't get any big contracts especially for companies like TCS, Wipro as the whole media is left wing in West, Harvard is the epitome of west liberalism, Colonial institution and white supremacy. Insecure from China and India's threat of Progress as it challenges their dominance:)

That's because money usually goes into most essential needs first. Once we get there, I'm sure more people will show interest like we already are. Also, it's not very clear on how to donate/support these researches to us common people. More people would like to donate even today if it's clear

Wonderful. I have been working on the actual truth behind praachina Bhaarateeya Sabhyata since 2019 as a personal project. What I have discerned as the behind a paradigmatic meta-framework is now confirmed by the articulate scientific support of Raj Vedam. Thank you once again. I will remember you. I will cite your works in my project. I am specialised in Darshana Shastra. A student of the late Prof R. Balasubrabian of the then RIASP, Univ of Madras (1985-87 batch). He was the Chairperson of ICPR, New Delhi. He was one of the stalwarts of Advaita.

As usual your brilliance unparalleled. During indo Greek period of 300 years the indo Greeks found our science and astronomy interesting and learnt it formulated Yavanasastra and yavana sidhanta. If the Greek civilisation could survive Arabic and European invasions they would have been happily indic now. Because our culture is so deeply embedded for millennia inspite of 1200 year foreign rule the only ancient surviving civilisation is Bharat. Entire Google search will not mention Out of India theory. Without ephimeris and log tables we see now panchang was written, not to be seen anywhere in the world in old times.

It would be very beneficial to the young researchers if this talk programme is published in the form of a fully edited volume. Vedam has touched upon so many things dealing not only contents but also methods etc. His reference to the relative merits and demerits of the difference between oral and written text is quite informative and it disproves the predominant importance given to the latter source.

Dr Vedam referring to Tilak work is available as a book ‘Orion or Antiquity of Vedas’ which Tilak published in Ninth Oriental Congress held in London. There is incomplete work of him on Vedanga Jyotish and Indian calendar which is published as ‘Vedic Chronology and Vendang Jyotish’ book by Kesari Press. Both books are phenomenal. I read this 1st book at State Library Of Victoria in Melbourne and second book at National Library of Australia in Canberra. It really reflects his intellectual and deep study in the field. Being a Maharashtriyan I feel ashamed that I didn't know this scholar side of Tilak until last year.

Hats off to you, Raj sir. It was amazing elaboration about our Indian history. I always feel proud when I hear about our ancestors and ancient history. The mention of the word 'metaphor' about our history gives me goose bumps, on other hand I also feel like the epics like 'Ramayan' and 'Mahabharata' happened in real. Were our ancestors tried to link the astronomy and other technology with the real stories so that everyone can remember the stories easily and decipher the 'metaphor'?

A fantastic learning experience Dr. Raj. We have missed you for a while now - 2 years? A validation of the knowledge in the puranas is just great .. the real knowledge is the inaccuracies themselves which were corrected by better and more advance mathematical models .. which our rishis postulated. It is very very clear that the actual natural cycles can at best be approximated and our traditions built these models and evolved these models. A small point to note... to the gentleman who open asking many many good questions.. Please use the mic.. people listening to the recorded version as hearing you a a jumble of words.... :(

Now let's send this information to those institutions that teach and learn otherwise from what we claim here, let's see if they will at the least acknowledge these counterarguments. We want them to publish these observations as papers and give their views on them. Otherwise, we will have to consider them cowards. We need to send this information to the respective divisions of study in both National and International Universities.

This is because we say chaturtuga is some 4.3 million years then such events might have happened more than once. Amazing! How would the ancient Indians have known about Yayati/Andromeda galaxy without the modern telescopes? Even if they're only aware of a mysterious cloud-like appearance it is quite an observation. Of course, the sky would have been crystal clear for the naked eye compared to today's pollution.

Andromeda galaxy can be seen with a keen eye in a very dark sky location (Moonless sky) as a dull, dark smear resembling a rain cloud the size of the Moon. It can be seen much brighter thru a binoculars or telescope. To locate it, look in the northern skies for the big "W" (Cassiopeia). The galaxy can be found in a straight line from the bigger pointy part of "W". As I noted in the talk, even an Arab astronomer noticed it in the 10th century without a telescope. It is truly fascinating to read the speculations of our Rishis on the nature of this object, its dark-cloud characterization, the nearby 5-stars, the multiple worlds it contains, and even the point about colliding with Earth.

@@RajVedam ji thank you for your reply 🙏 As an archaeologist I've been exploring the spatial and temporal abode of the Vedic Rishis. But it's fascinating to know what engaged their minds. There's just so much more for us to learn about our Gurus 🕉

Dr.Raj vedam is amazing. This is just the correlation I was looking for in Astronomy linking ancient Indian to current knowledge. I hv explored such in the field of medicine. I hv a request sir. Can we explain the concepts of Dyson Sphere in ancient Indian astronomy? The various Lokas explained in Puranas & the capacity of beings like Narada to move from one to the other loka? Can u throw some light on this?
