He didn't order them cleared because they were "camping" but because of the crime, drug use, and health issues. Courts found that perfectly reasonable and legal. Why don't other jurisdictions do the same? Because they don't want too.

I really miss 90s Portland. Being mid-teens, my friends and I would take the bus almost every day in the Summer to skateboard under Burnside and then skate around the city to find spots to skate. Now along comes shigella - highly contagious through conduct better left undescribed, and carrying intense and sometimes lethal symptoms. Does Dr. Cody impose similar mandatory restrictions on the so-called "homeless" to prevent the spread of this ugly and dangerous disease? No, she does not. She'll leave them free to continue to camp on our streets, sidewalks, and in our parks, urinating and defecating anywhere they please, shooting up and trading in drugs anytime they please. No one from County Health will dare suggest that the "homeless" stop doing the vile things that make the transmission of this disease more likely, or even force anyone to wash hands or practice basic hygiene. Instead, County Health will only "urge" - really, beg - the "homeless" to use free services provided through vast quantities of tax dollars paid by ordinary working people. Nothing will be required of the street-dwellers. NO change of attitude, of lifestyle, of conduct. And if shigella gets worse in the County, and spreads to the general population, will Dr. Cody and her Public Health Department feel any consequences? No, but we'll be told that it's our fault for not spending more money. And Dr. Cody will get another award.

So when i had to do an emergency room visit for a tooth it cost me $4,000 im still paying that off. Now im wondering why i am since when they go to the emergency room its free. I think im done paying that off. Oh during covid i paid rent every month and worked all thru it. But really tired of seeing migrants and homeless get benefits for being lazy. Its hard to be responsible. Yes theres some mental health issues but if any of it is for drugs well thats no excuse. Im even looking at the elderly different. My best friend is 60. Partied his whole life. Ran a successful business and had more money 15 years ago than i could ever dream of. He blew it on trips. Woman and partying. Now he has major health issues and 0 money. I refuse to feel too sorry for him financially

I am a 54 year old Afro American who lives on a medical hardship and one of those hardships is cleaning myself after loose stools or fibroid tissue substance that are breaking off from tumors coming from a surgical procedure that was done in 2016 and these bat looking light brown and dark substance of those tumors exit my backside just about every day for close to 8 years now. I wear pampers at night... I have also had VD and treated as a much younger adult ..years ago... so I really feel unsanitary... BUT NOTHING MADE ME FEEL EXTREMELY FILTHY UNTIL EXPERIENCING THE FAST FOOD WORKERS WHO FOR SEVERAL YEARS WOULD HAVE PRACTICES OF SCRATCHING SKIN, HAIR, FACES OR PULLING PANTS UP AT THE ORDER COUNTER.... HANDS INSIDE BACK OF PANTS WAISTBAND AND PULLING UP OR JUST PLAIN OLE DROPPING OBJECTS OR COINS ON FLOOR AND BENDING DOWN TO PICK THE OBJECT UP AND WHOAH.... REFUSING TO WASH THEIR HANDS ..... OR HOW ABOUT THIS ONE.... OPENING BATHROOM DOOR TO SEE FAST FOOD WORKERS RUSH BY YOU FROM A STALL AND EXITING THE COMPLETE ROOM... BACK TO THE KITCHEN.... I HAVE SEEN THEM IMMEDIATELY RETURN TO TAKING ORDERS..AS I HAVE WASHED MY HANDS AND HAVE HAD THEM BUMP INTO ME LEAVING AND UPON ME WALKING THROUGH AW THAT THEY STOPPED AT THE COUNTER AND DID NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO WASH HANDS... I can't tell you how many older vulnerable people and etc... I seen place hands on wrappers that could have been contaminated. I can't tell you how many times I was insulted and almost threatened when I asked the worker could they wash their hands...they made me feel that they were doing this on purpose.... so I don't feel that this is just a homosexual thing or a sex thing..... I feel that some people might have BACTERIA WAREFARE ON THEIR MINDS...

This is why people are trying their best not to live or work in old town. This is why people are moving out in droves if they possibly can.

I have NEVER heard of shigellosis being present in the USA until these last 3.75 years. A friends son was hospitalized with it and almost died here in North Texas. He got it from a restaurant employing irregular not authorized individuals in the kitchen. Because of this we no longer eat anywhere away from home. My friends son is permanently disabled now DUE TO THe aftermath of that infection. His family left without support. While in hospital he was also diagnosed with C. Difficile and multiple drug resistant staph aureus or MRSA. No matter where you are in the USA you are at risk because of the bor.ter situatuon. FJB

I am pondering the vast numbers of YMCAs around the Country, which nowadays is the most common place that homeless get daily showers. I ponder how this illness could be just too much for the kids that go to the YMCAs across tge USA.😢
