• About Santa Cruz Bikes • Santa Cruz Bicycles was founded in 1993 in a space the size of a single car garage in the Seabright Cannery, in Santa Cruz California. Our first bike, the Tazmon, was a single pivot dual suspension bike that rattled established sensibilities and helped define our then- ethos of "simply advanced." I just got the Heckler SL last week, rode twice with it and it's just freaking amazing! Extremely agile, great for small drop, jumps, it climbs so crazy that I feel like I am cheating but after I've done twice the km I'm used to in almost half the time it took me, I am so happy with the bike! I still go for my Nomad for bikeparks but this is now my goto bike for everything else!!! :) Tks for creating such great bikes for us!!

interesting that Santa Cruz shows their riders ripping up trails while giving lip service to preserving California trails. see time line 3:35. I went to the Santa Cruz factory for a test ride and got lectured for doing this exact thing.

I finally got my hands on one (GX-AXS) and this thing lives up to the marketing hype and add to that it is super playful. You can throw it around like a regular pedal bike. SC has got its emtb mojo back and has a winner on its hands.

Dropped my Giant off at Mikes Bikes today for tuneup, and asked to see one. They had the Magenta SL and my god is the build quality amazing. Im gonna demo this against the regular Heckler, and buy the winner. Ive wanted a Santa Cruz my whole life lol

I demo'd another eMTB last weekend and came away with the same opinion as the first - fun to ride, but so easy to go fast. This is more motorcycle than bicycle.

2:40 I did my market research and found out what you say is not true. There are plenty of ebikes that use the same motor+battery (Transition, Pivot, Ghost...) and there are ebikes that have the same weight and range but more power (Giant). That Santa Cruz ride character sure does have it's appeal, I'm sure this will be a blast to ride.

On video there’s Fox 36 Factory fork and Float X2 shock on the bike but online it comes only specced with Rockshox. Any plans on putting the Fox spec available?

I rode a Fazua bike and hated the power delivery and cheap screen/controller. The TQ system is way better. Thought SC might use higher quality components for their SL :(

You should demo this bike before judging it based on something else you have ridden before. We have a lot of development time in on this project (2+ years) and worked with Fazua to dial it in the whole way.

This motor is only technically 350w, you can’t rate the motor based on a 10second burst of power.. It’s slower that the Levo SL and way slower than the Orbea Rise.. Looks sick but

integrated, you need to remove the motor for pulling it out (in case of repair)

We designed the Skitch as a Class 3 28mph bike which has limited international markets that are legal for this set-up. We'll be working on options there. Just going to take a little while.

What warranty does SC offer on the e-bike batteries?

The battery warranty comes directly from the battery manufacturer, in this case - Fazua. Their written battery warranty s 2 years, but the average battery life expectancy is 3-5 years.

The Heckler SL does NOT have a motor with 430 watts is has "only" 350 watts. It has some short power spikes where it reaches 430 watts, but only for seconds which basically means it's the same as the Levo SL but the Orbea Rise blows this out of the water with 450Watts all the time. ;) I'm not yet a E-Biker but I saw this bike in person and i'm 99.9% sure it has 350 Watts.

SO much misinformation here. First off, you are mixing up battery wattage with power. We don't claim 430w of power, 430 Wh is the battery capacity. As for power, in accordance with EU law ALL ebikes have a max nominal power of 250W. Fazua, Bosch, Shimano etc, are ALL limited to 250W nominal continuous power (peak power can be higher). The Heckler SL with FAZUA RIDE 60 nominal continuous power is 250W (As all others) and the Ride 60 max power is 350 in Rocket & 450 with boost function. Power = Torque x RPM, so It's probably better to compare the power of E-Systems on torque. Heckler SL - 60 Nm of Torque Rise - 60 Nm Torque Levo SL 35/50 Nm Torque

My problem with ebikes is the higher environmental toll. A battery and the constant rechanrging mean more co2 emitions for something that most of us dont really need. So im curious to ask: what is the difference in emissions when manufacturing e bikes compared to a similar non-assist pedal bike (considering making the battery and sourcing all materials)? Is it actually as big of a difference as i think it is?

Stick to an acoustic aluminum bike that you will ride for the next 10 years if you are concerned about environmental impact. Don’t buy into marketing from any industry….. Problem solved, you just won’t have as much “fun”

@@Hihopeyouhaveawonderfulday I think having a simpler bike like an acoustic aluminium bike is more fun because when that e-bike motor inevitably brakes it will cause a lot more headaches than a “normal” bike ever will. I’m just curious to know how much difference there actually is between the two, even tho I have no interest in buying an emtb

@@ApostolosK06 I don’t own an e-bike but I can tell you they are a heck of a lot of fun…. My friend had to pay $1500 out of pocket to get his motor replaced. Price for an e-bike is just out of my budget. Asides, I have other hobbies that involve two wheels. I don’t want to drop $5,500+ on a pedal bike with a silly little motor

Just like viagra, e bikes are for those who need help getting it up... Downhill a mountain bike will always be faster than a mobility bike assuming a similar setup and the same rider, but if you are time limited and or have kids you want to bring along, a mobility bike is defiantly worth considering. That said, it is not a replacement to a mountain bike and while riding an e bike, you are not a mountain biker.
