In this video, we head down to Santa Cruz to try our luck in the bay for Halibut, ling cod and rock fish along with Dungeness and Rock crabs! It's my first time out in this area which is no problem. I show how I make a plan for ocean fishing, and keep on eye on how I use my electronics from ‪@HumminbirdTV‬ to search and find crab and rockfish!

I've been ocean kayak fishing for about 9 years up in Humboldt County. You are spot on with your safety gear. It's very important and I applaud you for stressing it. Looking forward to more adventures.

In Santa Cruz…queue the Reggae music. I lived in SC a couple years as a youngster who had not discovered his passion for fishing yet. It would be interesting to head back and explore now.

My buddies in NCKA have always said you have to go deeper for crabs in SC. You may wish to try the PROMAR 102W trap. It folds flat, easy to use on a kayak. It was my go to when I lived in San Mateo and would hit HMB. Also try using some EVOO on your bait or use some salmon bellies or mackeral as bait. Good Luck on the next trip! FYI the closer you get to Bean Hollow, the closer to the landlords habitat your getting.

that was a blue rock fish. for future note if you think it's a black sea bass keep it in the water and release it.

When are you going to start hunting? I recommend archery hunting so it's harder and more appreciated.

Hey Ash, those rockfish that you’re keeping/catching are not black Seabass. They are black rockfish definitely different species from a black Seabass which is a non keeps species here in California. Before you post up your videos with educational info, be sure to research your catch.
