@@NayburhoodSnipawheel bite is never preventable. That’s just skating. It’s got wheel bite on the board because he definitely didn’t do this in one take.

@@demon_3xI'm not trying to be argumentative, but wheel bite is 100% avoidable. You should be able to set up a complete with proper geometry. You can make it so that the king pin, hardware, or one of the casting points on the hanger or baseplate of your tuck would have to fail before you had wheel bite. I don't see wheel bite on the deck when he's pulling the complete out of the cellophane. I see reflections off of the decks freshly lacquered surface under the wheels after the light from the sun refracts back to the lens of the camera.

@@NayburhoodSnipa so you gotta do math and geometry depending on wheel size and shape, truck size and shape and height, all this factors, to set up a perfect board? Jesus that’s boring go skate lol wheel bite really isn’t a big problem like people make it to be. Also not being argumentative, just 2 grown dudes talking about skate setups. Have fun with the thing, fuck mathematics lol. And that could be as well, but if that were the case and it was a reflection, it would move up the board as he moved. Not with the board remaining in the same spot. That’s a wood color wheel bite mark lol

@@demon_3x Interesting...I'm more of a Rodney Mullen type. I appreciate understanding why things work. I believe it helps me master everything that I do, including skateboarding. Wheel bite is a problem for certain riders. What if you're 6'6" and naturally over 200 lbs? You think a staright out of the cellophane complete from santa cruz can carve and not give the 200 lbs person wheel bite while turning at speed? Imagine going to the hospital because you turned on your skateboard lol. There are also many different types of riding and shapes that create new variables for a setup. This is basic stuff for most adults interested in a hobby. Part of the fun for many is understanding and customizing their setups. Saying to not think and just have fun is an oxymoron for some. It's like telling a hot rod guy to just buy a Prius and start driving already. 🤣 I appreciate your input though, sometimes we need to stop worrying and enjoy.

Wish I had a shred of that skill. I haven't gotten a brand new complete for myself since I was a boy, but anytime I get a new anything the first thing I do to break it in is a 180 no comply. PS Congratulations to Santa Cruz on 50 years of gearing up skaters to push the limits! My Winkowski 10.34 setup is the best non-popsicle shape I've ever skated.

By the way, OP, you should rather opt for an oldschool skate deck instead and put street trucks and relatively large, soft street wheels (87a-93a durometer) on it. I don't know your skill level at all but I'd say it's perfect if you're entry level and would like to cruise but have plans for learning tricks. Rock on.

Never really had a go to trick for a new board. But my first trick when getting on my board is probably close to a tie between either a fs 360, kickflip, nollie flip, nollie tre, dolphin flip, fs board, smith, feeble, or fs overcrook. Depending on where I am and how I’m feeling at the moment.

Trucks are only 55 bucks and get you some orbs, bones, or snots wheels, reuse the hardware and bearings and it's basically now a pro complete

Im older and have put on some weight, but i still love to skate. Mostly transition and curb slappy's anymore, so my setup is a lot different, but my go-to new board break-in trick is a nollie frontside full cab.

first trick is always nollie frontside 360 (no pivot) I have em on lock and i’m most picky about my nose shape and concave, so it tells me everything I need to know about the board.

Double heel definitely not my fist choice only double flip i got consistent is the nightmare id prolly just do a kickflip so i would start the board out with bolts
