Cheese is fermented/aged in mold. It doesn't "go bad" unless it gets dry. You don't have to cut off "inches" of cheese. Get a vegetable peeler and peel off the mold till you can't see anymore and wrap it in TINFOIL. It will stay moist and mold free.
@robertpierce85673 жыл бұрын
That's fine if you plan on eating the rest of the cheese that day, or, at least, use the part(s) close to where you 'peeled' the mold from, but if you don't use that area first, it will re-mold quickly since the roots of the mold are still present in the cheese.

@twentyonetoone97839 жыл бұрын
Cheese is technically alive. It's a fungal.
@Maxmillion779 жыл бұрын
TwentyOne ToOne not really, yes it contains bacteria but that would be the same as calling beer alive due to the yeast used in it or calling a lump of dirt alive because of all the insects living in it. The bacterial organisms are alive the cheese is not alive.
@sicariusperemo3789 Жыл бұрын
@@Maxmillion77 But being it's part of the Cheese... It's hard to define what's alive and what's not, if you have to walk in such small shoes, because then as a human, you're technically not alive either, it's just a body of bacteria keeping it moving, so... 😉

Dip the knife in Vinegar prior to cutting the cheese. Any mold Veins that may still exist in the cheese will transport the vinegar through the cheese and kill off all the mold.

Conclusion: 15 minutes of serious heated (and costly...) oven vs 50 cent bread... I'll give my old one to the dogs, and buy me some fresh.
@BagerathanSivarajah9 жыл бұрын
Exactly, anyone with a right mind will through it to dog, instead of spending on electricity.
@jeandiatasmith45129 жыл бұрын
Not wasted money if you combine it with actually using the oven to cook something. Actually cost effective use of the "preheat" time. Pull the bread out, put the food in, then 5 minutes before the meal is done, pop the baguette back in. No energy waste + fresh bread.
@GhasAbs9 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's about money here. It's about wasting the food. If you give your old bread to your dog, that's perfectly fine, you're not wasting anything. In these days, people tend to throw away a lot of food, tons. There are people in big cities that live from the food that other people throw in the grabage (not spoiled, food in perfect condition, like you buy it from the supermarket). People buy more food than they actually need. So why waste it when you can 'revive' it?
@ennisdelmar8079 жыл бұрын
So I buy fresh bread, when old I go and buy myself a dog that can eat. That's expensive! #Wow!

I dont know about this. It seems like a good idea but i'll still know the bread is oldish if its that hard. I buy bread and keep it in the paper bag it comes in and then i put it in a plastic bad and tie a good knot and it stays super soft for about 2-3 days( if its not eaten the same day ofcourse). if somehow it does get a little hard wich hardly ever happens i just pop it in the microwave just a few seconds and its soft again. i just realy eat the "butt" of the bread. The chickens and or my Dog does. she loves bread.

Not good advice I'm afraid. An australian show (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_Good_For_You) tested the cheese mold problem at a lab. They found that even though the mold was only on the outer edge the toxins had gone all the way through the cheese. The average home block of cheese is completely non useable if it has any mold on it at all even though the rest of it looks ok.
@onitram19 жыл бұрын
A link to the actual show, rather than a Wikipedia entry ABOUT the show might have given your claim some merit. As it is, it contradicts the Mayo Clinic, the U.S. F.D.A., the World Health Organization, etc. Sara pointed out that soft cheeses must be thrown out-the spores can penetrate deeply into those cheeses. Not true of semi-soft and hard cheeses. You do realize that mold is desirable and necessary for many cheeses don't you?
@unholycheeseburger9 жыл бұрын
I tried to link the actual show but couldn't find it unfortunately. Nevertheless their findings were quite conclusive. The toxins went several inches in thus making the entire block to risky. This was true for both hard and soft cheeses. Soft cheeses were worse though. Industrial blocks from cheese makers would be fine because they do cut off several inches. As to my claim: I don't really care. I am only saying what one TV show found in their results. You also provided no references. If you want to keep eating it that it is your choice. I was not trying to spread a lie. I was only sharing because I care about people.

You don't bath the bread in water only sprinkle or wet your hands and pass over the bread then toast for the same time you normally would, otherwise you're wasting time and electricity pretending you've made bread fresh. This isn't anything new or a 'trick'
