and why wouldn't they? People are the same across generations. If people loved the Beatles in the 60s, they're gonna love them now as well. Nobody gets surprised when kids enjoy Mozart's music, so why is kids enjoying The Beatles a surprise? I fell in love with them when I was in my teens, a decade ago, and I don't think my love for them is any different from the love someone who was there in the 60s felt. We are all people. Fundamentally, we are all the same. The calendar is made up anyway, generational differences are also made up, and in the big scheme of things the 60s really weren't that long ago and the world didn't fundamentally change *that* much.

I hate to admit it, but I didn't realize Mother Mary was a reference to his own mother until 4 years ago, when my younger sister was losing her fight against cancer. Started crying immediately. The next year our mother joined her in the undiscovered country. Next week will be 3 years since she left us, and today is the first time listening to this song since then. Tears are in my eyes again. I can never listen to this song in the same way again, but that is a good thing. Thank you, Sir Paul.

The Beatles greatest Band in the history of Music....Paul McCartney wrote this song. It was inspired by his mother, Mary, who died when he was 14. Many people thought "Mother Mary" was a biblical reference when they heard it. According to McCartney, this is a very positive song, owing to its inspiration. One night when he was paranoid and anxious, he had a dream where he saw his mother, who had been dead for ten years or so - she came to him in his time of trouble, speaking words of wisdom that brought him much peace when he needed it. It was this sweet dream that got him to begin writing the song.

Either way this song is a gift from Heaven, cause the Bible says Mother Mary will be glorified throughout all of time and this song to me surely does just that. Another good song that I enjoy is Sweet Mary by Weezer too! But that is 90-2000s rock (different time period) but worth checking them out.. much much different vibe than Beatles but these two songs share similarity in this Heavenly comfort and soothing, that can only be from Virgin Mary and Heaven itself if you were to ask me and I suppose many others.

I’m a 68 year old musician, recording artist, who saw the Beatles in person when I was only 9 years old. My childhood was filled with Beatles music and Beatlemania. My heart melts when I watch young people discovering the Beatles for the first time! ❤ It’s just so beautiful! I hope you get a chance to hear Nowhere Man, Yesterday, I’ll Be Back, and so many more. The Rubber Soul and Help albums are unforgettable classics! 🙏🏻🌷

Im 60. I remember seeing them on TV when Ed Sullivan introduced them for the now infamous Shae Stadium performance. I was very young but I distinctly remember having to sit through some warm-up act that bored us all as we ate dinner around the table with the TV on in the living room. Then the Beatles came on and I remember not being able to make out the music because of the screaming. I remember my older brother pointing out the flash bulbs going off in the stands. You could see police walking along the chain-link fence. My mom asked, "Why are they all so crazy?" and my brother says, "Because they were the first guys to have long hair" That made sense to me because I recalled my father and my brother often arguing over the length of my brother's hair. We only watched for maybe two songs because I remember my dad, who was still sitting at the table and likely having a cigarette and a beer said, "All right, that's enough of that noise. Turn it off and get ready for bed" Sorry, I had a big memory jog there, just now.

I can't imagine growing up without the Beatles music being a part of my life. I just wish today's youth would have the opportunity to have all those FM stations we had, where the DJ's had the freedom to play what they wanted, sometimes playing entire sides of an LP.... WHICH, by the way, is the way MOST of us discovered the music; buy it for one song or two, and find 6-7 more that SHOULD have been just as popular.

Sarah- One of the greatest songs ever from the greatest band of all time. This is Paul McCartney singing lead for Let It Be and just for clarity when he says Mother Mary comes to him. They both lost there moms when they were just teens.

These guys not only changed music, they changed the world! I know it doesn't fit reactor's needs, but The Beatles really needs to be a chronological journey. If you were to hear "I Am The Walrus" or "Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds" without knowing/hearing the progression it just wouldn't make nearly as much sense. Not to say it won't be enjoyable, but if you follow the path it makes perfect sense! It's hard to believe the same guys did "She Loves You" and "Helter Skelter" without some sense of how they got from one place to the other. Thankfully they left us a lot of material in their very short time as The Beatles.

@@viclimited9081 No Jimmy Rogers, BB King, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, probably no Elvis either. Absolutely, The Beatles were influenced by many of the same artists and they readily espoused their love of that music! I really don't agree with saying that those artists were "doing this" before The Beatles. They were strong influences, yes, but they never did anything remotely like some of the Beatles material. Can you really see Elvis or Fats Domino doing "A Day in The Life" or "I am The Walrus" or "Dear Prudence"? I can't!

Elvis changed the world in the early 50's (no Elvis no Beatles) and Sinatra had women screaming like insane people before that. @JornFiebig they actually were together since 1957 when 15 year old Paul met 16 year old John. John asked Paul to join the Quarrymen, his original group. Then Paul asked John to let George join the band. About at the same time, the other members of the Quarrymen had left. They changed their name to the Silver Beatles, then the Beatles. But John and Paul started writing songs together in 1957 and they played at the Cavern in Liverpool, then went to Hamburg. By the time they broke up, they'd been together 13 years.

Every band wanted to learn them and be first to do them at their gigs. Now they are the most covered band in the World.

As a Born and Bred Scouser, the Beatles will always have a special place in my Heart. A couple of my favourites are Michelle and Penny Lane. Penny Lane will always be associated with The Beatles, but a new and up and coming star lived there. His name was Freddie Mercury, he played in a Liverpool Band called The Ibex, that was in 1969. Queen were formed in 1970 and the rest as they say, is history ✌️🎸

Loving these reaction posts. As a boy growing up in Liverpool in the 60’s, these remind me of getting to know these songs, playing in a Beatles tribute band just after the Fab Four had gone their own separate ways. The greatest band and songs we’ve ever heard.

I can relate to this song. Paul McCartney lost his mother Mary when he was a teenager and I also lost my mother Mary when I was a teenager

The once in a lifetime band. The power of each musician exponentially amplified by the joining of the four. Love seeing another generation discovering the magic.

I'm a 65 year old white man and I really enjoyed watching this, the first time I held this song I had the same reaction. Just a note, the 'mother Mary' Paul is singing about is his real mother who died when Paul Was a young Teen. I think that is why the song strikes a cord with everyone. it's Real. God Bless, and I will look for more of your videos.

Fellow 65 year old here. What a privilege we had growing up with The Beatles as a soundtrack to our youth. I was trying to explain to my grandkids about the anticipation of waiting for the latest Beatles song to break on the radio, there was nothing like the feeling of "they can't come up with anything better than this one", and then followed it up with a song that was even better.

The guitar solo was literally the last Beatles recording until the Anthology project in the 1990s. George recorded it in March or April 1970 as I recall. The sadness comes through in every note.

This song came in the early 70's when his band was in turmoil and was about to break up. As others have said, his mother Mary came to him in a dream. He wrote a song about it. Most people don't know that these guys were all in their '20s, teenagers when it all started, yet they changed the world.

I love all the Beatles songs. Let It Be, actually is my favorite it says so much with so little lyrics. I know it about Paul’s Mother, and the guidance she gave him. I’m so grateful Paul put it to song. It inspires me every time I hear it. Thanks Paul.

A couple weeks after 911 I saw a Beatles cover band do this song as an encore. By the end of the song at least half the audience was openly crying. All the hatred and fear in the world. Maybe the answer was always simply Let it be.
