You're so utterly delightful. ^_^ I've been watching different videos for ideas for making my own handles, I'm in a creative slump so just been going around looking for ideas because I'm not sure exactly how I want to make my hooks when it comes to color combos, or shapes in the clay. I want to cover my hooks up to the point that only an inch is showing. I have these metal stamps that are for embossing letters and numbers into things like metal, wood, and leather. I'm going to use the number ones to put the hook size on the end of the hook as I prefer the numbers for the mm size of the hook vs the letters.

Magnets on the corners of parchment paper will keep it flat until you are ready to bake. Don’t forget to remove them before cooking.
@missi77163 жыл бұрын
But these trays are aluminium, and the magnet will not work on aluminium.
@Mrsakris3 жыл бұрын
I’m making the covering longer and covering the size because I’m making these to fit MY hand. Not planning to sell them or anything. I think I can use a needle to scrawl in the size near the bottom of the piece where it won’t bother me. I’m also planning to use different color combos for each size to help identify them. I look forward to creating a bigger item to hold with an indent in the right place to fit MY thumb while leaving a decent amount of the hook above it.
@jenreeves7684Ай бұрын
Love the tutorial! Thank you, you explained it very well. You made me feel like I can do this. I was wondering if your hooks come out with a flat side from lying on the pan? I have seen people make an accordion with the parchment paper to rest the hooks on before baking. I wonder if this would help or if it would put dents in the clay? 🤔
@SaraSachАй бұрын
No, they are rounded. but the accordion parch paper works great if you are worried about it.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I am an avid crochet player who makes a lot of amiga roomie and I need the original mechanics but I want to make them myself and I love this idea. Question, what does the polymer clay feel like in your hand is it smooth ? Does it feel like a porous stone??
@SaraSach Жыл бұрын
It's smooth like plastic, but with a little give.
@KristaStumpff2 жыл бұрын
This looks great, but I do have a sincere question! I get that it's necessary to not cover up the sizing, but I usually hold my crochet hook right at the grip, where the size of the hook is generally labeled. So if that part's not covered by the clay, then would that make this whole thing a little redundant for me, personally? Will it still do any good to create handles for mine? I genuinely need to know, because I have a bunch of hooks that I'd love to make handles for but that IS a concern of mine. That this wouldn't work for me. Sorry if this comment makes no sense, it's late when I'm writing this.
@SaraSach2 жыл бұрын
You go up as far you need. The point of the the clay cover is to make the hook more comfortable to use.

Hi Sara, does the clay have an odor , when baking in oven? I have an allergy to the aluminum hooks (rash on my hands). This looks like a good idea for the aluminum hooks I cannot use. Thank you, much appreciated.
