I think if Viv is looking for a new WSL team to play with it would make more sense for her to pick a team that is light in her position. She's a center forward ultimately. If she moves to Man City she's in direct competition with the league's top scoring center forward, Bunny Shaw, and likely to spend most of the season on the bench. Then again Chelsea have more center forwards than they know what to do with already, especially if Sam Kerr returns. Tottenham have been doing fine this year with Beth England. The one top team who could really use more fire power in that position is Man United who have never convincingly filled the hole that the departure of Russo left.

Arsenal had miedema, blackstenius, Russo and hurtig. Chelsea have Kerr, Ramirez and fishel two of which are long term injured. City have bunny and that’s it. They had to play Fowler up top when bunny got injured. City have by far the greatest need for miedema - plus given she plays more like a 10 than a 9, they could easily play together. In the same way that Kirby and Kerr played together and hopefully macario and Kerr will.

As you mentioned, the Australian players (who play in the WSL, or NWSL) have to do this travel all the time. The scheduling definitely isn't ideal, but these days it seems impossible to find any time of the year where it's ideal. I assume Russo and McCabe going was part of a discussion between club and national managers. Arsenal couldn't just take the Australians and reserve players, as that wouldn't be great promotion for Arsenal. It's a good thing. Our (I live in Melbourne, Australia) A-League getting a chance to play such a huge club, is great for the game here. I'm going to the game tonight, and I can't wait :)

Yeah good point about Scheduling all year round its hard to find the "best time" There will be some type of conflict at most times throughout the year. I read that Russo's brother lives in Australia? I could be wrong but that would be another reason why she would really want to go as well. And the Aussies love the Irish from what Ive been told! hah OMG have a good time! Very Jelly!

Hello Sara and Sarah. You said all I might have, though I do wonder how many players Crystal Palace will try to sign, to not just end up in the same position as Bristol. The players leaving Chelsea must be heading somewhere too? Then there are discussions about players wanting to leave Manchester United, which cannot be good for them to try to attract others to sign for them.

The fixtures that annoyed me the most this summer is uefa putting 2 of the qualifier dates in mid-July. Players could have been having a proper break most of June and into July. But now need to match ready mid-July. the qualifier dates are 31/May 4/June 12/16 July

About the friendly games, I think even if the coach of the National team have a wish, players probably needs to do what their employer tells them to do. Unless there is a special agreement between the National team and their club. Rumours have been said that Jonas had an equal problem with temper when he coached in Sweden 🤷

Viv leaving Arsenal is hard enough without her joining a rival club. I have honestly can't understand how Arsenal let this happen, it would make more sense to replace Jonas and keep Viv she's a much more important part of the team imo.

Hey! I was at the arsenal game in Melbourne - travelled from another state to be there. I was surprised when I heard the date of the game so close to the finish of the season. But had to take to opportunity to see them play live. I also think it was a great occasion to show off the A league Australian teams! They really put up a good fight. Also they cut to Jonus on the screen and Alot of the stadium booed! Was a funny moment, but it makes me wonder how the players feel about it?

Compare Arsenal's rehab of ACLs with Olympic Lyonnais. OL are miles ahead, both with surgery, tailored rehab, and player welfare.

This is not true at all. The medical guidance at Arsenal would be top class, but it was just very unfortunate that they got four ACL injuries within the space of about three months.

I think for me Viv to chelsea would be amazing but we knw she wont , but for me either city or united as united are in trouble next season they need forwards badly. And yes Crystal dunn played forward at chelsea and was amazing in doing so. i feel emma knows that very well.Emma did her homework on the players before choosing them and she knows want kind of formation she is going for, as for Lynn i think she will be there just for now Emma is putting pieces together.

I think that Vivs and Jonas' relationship was deteriorating for a longer time (remember how Viv stood up for Mana Iwabuchi). Viv stayed at Arsenal because she was injured, and also because of Beth. Now with the roster that Arsenal has, and possibly that Jonas doesn't bring titels (apart of 2 League Cup victories) to the club. I think that Viv will stay in the WSL, and also that Beth will join her next year. Emma Hayes probably wants to see some new players before she finally has to select a roster for the Olympic Games. She definitely knows how well Lynn can play. Sometimes a club has to go on tour because of sponsors. All players who had ACL injuries (Beth, Laura, Leah and of course Viv) aren't joining the Australia tour. Manu stayed out because she wants to spend time with her pregnant wife. Of course some Australian and New Zealand players have to sometimes fly longer distances, but also European players in the NWSL or US, Canadian or South American players for European Leagues.

unlikely she'll go to Spurs . the rivalry between teams is less in the women's game but - Spurs and Arsenal is a big rivalry and not many players go between the two. also she would be leaving a Champions League team for a mid-table one. City would make much more sense.

Spurs are awful and Viv knows the ramifications of such a move. Not worth wasting breath on. It's insane Arsenal are letting her go. In women's football stand-out players mean all the difference in a way that no linger applies in men's. Stina is simply not a patch on Viv, we will go backwards without someone to convert what Foord, Mead, McCabe etc can serve up.

Man City would actually suit her well....she isn't looking to leave WSl and she's stated in the past she does admire City as an opponent and she likes their style and City are known admirers. If that does happen... City might be unplayable in years to come. Shaw, Viv, Roord, Hempo, Fowler/Kelly, Park, Hasegawa... that could be lethal esp. if they get the gelling and rhythm right. Anyways time will tell but personally Arsenal have screwed up massively, unless they start winning actual titles on a regular basis

I would take any TikTok 'wisdom' with at least a pound of salt, but I will say that it's always seemed to me that Viv didn't like Arsenal's playing strategy and tactics. And someone of her calibre will always have strong views of how her talents should be used. We've seen that often with world-class players and managers. However, they usually arrive at some workable compromise. In Arsenal's case, it seemed to me that Jonas was not willing to compromise. Someone of Viv's quality must be allowed the space to flourish. Anyway, it could be as 'simple' as that. Cheers!

Scheduling in England is hard for both the men's and women's leagues and it's been a topic of conversation for years by the coaches. It's the only country that play for four trophies and during the Christmas holidays. In addition to that, there are international duties to fulfill during an already tough schedule. I think the Conti Cup and Carabao Cup are two tournaments they can scrap in England.

England it’s not the only country that has that 😂 Real Madrid for example play La Liga, Champions League, Spain Super Cup and Copa Del Rey. Here in Brasil: Copa do Brasil, Brazilian League, Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Estadual. And here we have to play in a hot weather too so stop being so fragile for god sake 🤦‍♂️

Serious question: Im also confused as to what these allegations or accusations are suppose to achieve. Ok everything about Jonas mentioned in this video is 100% true. Are people going to stop filling stadiums and buying jerseys? Or just boo Jonas every game and everywhere else (which i think will make players sad, depressed, uncomfortable, maybe stressed at having to hear the reception of angry fans for every game) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jonas clearly represents the commercial focus of Arsenal, and not player welfare. Atm, it is winter in Australia, and THREE debilitating respiratory viruses are running rife. If just one Arsenal player catches one virus, they'll all drop like flies, and take three weeks to recover, though not to playing level. Jonas is dangerous for Arsenal women players, a real shame.

Arsenal don't reveal behind the scene confidential employer worker negotiations, so it maybe that Viv demanded a large new salary increase contract and Arsenal knowing that a players performance will get worse after a certain age, thought "No, we don't want to pay you that much". Viv knows that she is still worth quite a bit and should easily be able to get a high salary new contract from Man City,, told Arsenal that unless she gets this new mega salary increase contract, she will leave on a free to go to Man City. At the moment the Arsenal ladies are looking strong even without Viv, so we will be okay.

If we can cut out the drama and controversy for a minute, i think Arsenal really had no choice but to let Viv go because 1) after 1.5 years she hasn't gotten back to old glory day Viv banging out hattricks etc 2) they spent 500k for russo and viv market value is 350k which is a lot to gamble for a 50% chance of getting Viv resurrected from the past and to put her on the bench, sometimes with limited minutes and keep waiting for the minor surgeries and setbacks to pass 3) arsenal currently has 2 injury free in their prime strikers in form stina and alessia 4) jonas try to make her #10 and even wingback to keep her on the team but she couldn't pull it off with a striker mindset as opposed to other players who play that position their whole life. 5) arsenal has done fine without Viv, they place 3rd and have another champions league shot and got conti cup. So it's just unfortunate due to circumstances. Fans are hopeful but businesses have to be realistic and balance their budgets. It cuts deep seeing Beth cry and her family about to be split up. Not our beloved euro hero. 350k contract renewal wasn' going to make the investment worth it. I get the anger and heartbreak and i sobbed the entire brighton game but i hope people can have a more objective perspective. Would you put in a huge house down payment only for a 50% possibility you'll actually receive a house? No, be crazy
