Adam doesn't take into account that multiplexes would probably play Tenet on all or most of their screens at one time, as there are very few alternatives. Even at half capacity, Tenet would probably make a lot more money because its the only thing that would be in theatres.

I'm not confident that theatres could attract enough people to fill that many showings, even at half capacity, or 33% as some theatres have done. I wouldn't go to a movie theatre unless I was fairly certain that I wouldn't catch COVID-19 (for instance, if I had been vaccinated). Now, maybe that many people are looking to get out and see a movie. Only time will tell.

It should be something modern, and something about the American experience, so not a cartel. It has to be a solo individual from nothing building his own empire, distinct from any prior organized crime faction. Meth would be too similar to Breaking Bad. Opioids is a safe bet. Maybe something with Big Pharma and a legalized sort of crime.

@Eaxl I hope so. you can do anything with animation and it's such a shame that the medium is only being used for after school shows and poorly designed adult comedies, with a few exceptions of course. The art form has so much potential for creative expression and it's such a shame it's seen predominantly as a commercial product. More diverse forms of story telling is always appreciated in my book.

Ok, since none of these guys bothered to research anything about AMC, or movie theater history in general, here's a quick summary: 1. AMC is the most vulnerable to collapse because they spent the last several years performing massive renovations to all their theaters nation-wide; hundreds of new IMAX & Dolby Cinema theaters were added in and recliner-seating became standard across many more of their locations. This put them in a huge amount of debt that they were just beginning to pay off at the beginning of the year. 2. America has had movie theater anti-trust laws since the 1948 "U.S. vs Paramount Pictures" legal case. Studios are forbidden from owning their own theaters because it would effectively crush smaller theater chains overnight. The Trump Admin is more open to undoing those laws, but it would have to be passed through Congress first and they have bigger things to worry about right now anyway. PLEASE do some research on your podcast topics before you start recording. You are 3 of the biggest movie channels on KZfaq, so all of you discussing a simple topic without doing the BARE MINIMUM of research on it beforehand is extremely embarrassing and unprofessional.

Thanks for the details! BTW I don't think its reasonable to expect them to research every topic that comes up during the podcast. The whole point of a podcast is for them to have a casual-ish conversation and if they had to constantly pause to research everything it would severely interrupt the flow. I would agree with you for long-form videos (like the YMS reviews) but for the podcast I think it's fine for them to occasionally have no idea what they are talking about. I know in conversation with my friends sometimes I make up some crap that I later realize was totally wrong.

@@topgun077 I don't mean research live, i mean spend 10-15 minutes before the podcast starts reading up on current events before beginning. It's not difficult! There shouldn't be many cases where Adam needs to bring out his phone and look stuff up live (although, in this case, it's better he did that than just assuming that AMC Theaters and the AMC TV channel are the same thing).

The first 30 minutes of this episode was almost entirely Adam talking about something the others didn't have any real input on, which seems to becoming more common lately (e.g. Ralph and Alex barely spoke in the Matt Johnson episode). I'd like to suggest that Adam makes an effort to avoid talking at length about things that only he has experienced (i.e. a film only he has seen), as IMO it makes the podcast much less engaging since the interaction between the three hosts is what keeps me coming back to this podcast.

With regards to Rick and Morty, I would highly recommend the episode Never Ricking Morty, but in all honestly it feels more like a Renegade Angel episode then a typical Rick and Marty episode, probably why I liked it more. The Shivering Truth 100% favourite animation show right now. I'm honestly more interested in new South Park, then new Rick and Morty.

I really do agree with Adam about Rick and Morty. I feel that the episodes nowadays just want to showcase outlandish, silly stories with a mean tinge. It’s a shame because when it uses its dark edge for more serious, lore-related stuff, I think it really works. But the writers sadly do express disinterest. To be fair though, they have SIX seasons to write episodes for.

27:50 Disney can't own their own chain of theaters according to the Hollywood Antitrust Law of 1948 (aka the Paramount case). I'd argue that this law should also be applied to streaming services so things like Disney+ can be outlawed to avoid further monopolization of the market. Corporations do run our government though, so I could see some way they get lawmakers to overturn it in which case disney could open their own theaters and run everything. That's worst case scenario though.
