The judicial system in India has been criticised since a long time. Various allegations have been made against the judiciary including some very serious ones on Hon'ble Judges of the Lower, Higher and even of the Supreme Court.
In the recent days, the much awaited demand of judicial reforms has intensified after recent incidents of sexual harassment of female colleagues by their male counterparts in the judiciary. The reforms comprise several proposed bills/acts, to deter ill practices in the judiciary. The Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010 and The System of Judicial Appointment Commission address the need for change in the tradition of the appointment of Judges among many other pressing issues.
Watch this edition of Sarokaar with legal experts, discussing all the aspects of an independent and transparent judiciary in India.
