Solid Axle Swap! Finally the video series a lot of you have been waiting for! Time to cut the crappy torsion bar IFS front end out of the Surf and put a solid front axle in and transform this old rig.
Follow along over the next several episodes as I run through all the struggles and wins (of course) involved in doing this job.
My apologies for the delay on this series. This was done roughly 18 months prior to the release of these videos. However, I can confirm from the future - it worked out AMAZING!

Yikes, that crack is a bit worrying. I am curious to see how the peaky turbo issue will be resolved. It made it difficult in previous videos to do slow rock crawling.

Hi the ifs double cardons dont get the same degrees travel as the solid axle ones, you can strip them and remove material to get them to move more

80 series 2" rear coils from memory and Superior remote res 2.0 shocks for a 4" lift from memory

Nice vid bro. Got the same truck in nz mines a 89 im about to do the same for the same reasons does it still feel real top heavy???

Why not use the same laser to mark the axle centerline on the guard? More accurate than holding up the tape and guessing at how straight up and down it is.

I wasn't concerned about the axle centre line being marked on the guard. It was merely a reference mark for where I measured. As you will see, I set the axle up further forward and also referenced multiple mounts and holes on the chassis etc to make sure I got the axle dead true. Not relying on where the front wheels sat before as they can move with the alignment adjusters anyway

Hey mate was just gonna ask what snorkel would fit a ln130 g I can’t find much and saw you have one love the vids have been using them to fix my old girls problem

No idea man, plastic wise probably anything for an N50. Maybe some N60 ones too. Mine is all custom. I think I even did a video on it a while back
