For the past 10 years I've been saying, "How cool would it be if Anthony Green got back with Saosin and they released a new album?" And all my friends were like, "Yeah right, grow up Blake. Let it go, it'll never happen." And what are those friends saying now? Well.. idk. I don't have friends anymore.

This album caught lightning in a bottle. Every track is a stand out. Obviously we gush about the vocals. And a lot of people compliment the drums. But I want to also geek out on the bass. I hear so many cool little details. The bass is mixed in so well. Guitar work is top notch. I guess the point is, everything came together in a special way that is not easily replicated. And everything about this album stands the test of time.

I don’t even like emo but this album is amazing. A high school friend of mine showed it to me, as a death metal kid, and I was impressed then as now. Def brings back “that feeling” of being a teenager in the beginning of the millenium. So real, I can almost taste it.

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

It is the sense of nostalgia after being imprinted....a great way to sum it up through this quote. "I’m not ashamed of anything we’ve done. Those things are what they are. Music comes to you at a certain point in your life and imprints itself on that part of your mind. I think people confuse that with thinking they really love a record and want that record again. They just have nostalgia. Even if you made that sort of record again it would never correspond to your life in the same way. Those things are flukes and sort of beautiful accidents." - Dustin Kensrue of Thrice.

Pirate.bey & utorrent. I don't know Bout yall, and maybe it's just cuz my best friends were pc gamers, techies, hackers in their own right, etc... but I've always been able to get my hands on mostly anything entertainment wise on the Interwebs that I desire. Except for a few really underground or local artists that I've had to extensively search for, I've had no problem with obtaining music:) thats just one of the beautiful things about the webs that certain political forces have tried to strip from the population countless times. This probably won't stop, but neither will the seeding and leeching of art & entertainment amongst lovers of music&art. It's all in the public domain in my opinion anyways and if politicians were actually looking out for the artists, authers, etc.. then they would have already thought about ways around the spreading of various things for free online. For example, n this is just one example, but idk... you could set policy that actually gives real incentive and compensation to artists for the contribution they make to culture and society. Imo art is one of the most important things to a healthy culture and human growth.it should be cherished and held in the highest regard for every generation that comes after to grow from, cry to, and love in their own right. Im a musician as well as a full-time lover of music, art n other types of human self expression that reflects, questions and answers somewhat of what most humans feel and think so much so in their hearts. This human condition kills and also births as well. As an expressionist of an introspective, outward, n every fuckin possible way in between, I can tell you that the last thing on my mind is bitching over money. In fact, I find it extremely flattering when people take the time to listen to my music. The trying of relation is so beautiful to me and all thay i ever want out of my music is for people to hear it. I kno how much music has helped me, and I feel that I as a listener have given back to the musicians I hold in my heart just by relation. How could you deny someone that beautiful relationship. Music has become such a big part of me that the music i have grown with is now literally a reflection of who i am. If just one person finds thay within my music they deserve all of it. Also, the spreading of these art forms is not only good for the exposure of the musician but its going to ensure the preservation of these beautiful expressions for as long as possible. If Shakespeare held his writings in a vault because he was afraid that future generations were gonna rip him off, he wouldn't be so revered. We would have missed out on something so fucking special. Anyway, full version apps, op systems for pc, bands and musicians full discogs, porn, games, movies, docs, etc..it's all at your fingertips! So there's no excuse to enlighten yourselves.

So I just discovered Seven Years. I actually never listened to this type of music before because I hated screamos, but Hail the Sun has made me kind of used to it. And now I'm here and holy fuck is Seven Years addicting! From Hail the Sun to Circa Survive to Saosin now... Post Hardcore might just be one of the best genres actually! Love it so far! No one knows any of these bands nowadays tho :< WITHOUT YOU, SOMETHING THAT I COULD NEVER DO!!!!

L Yeah sure feel free to do so. For now I absolutely love Hail the Sun (and Sianvar is cool as well, but not sure it's the same genre, but it's the same singer). I liked Circa Survive's On Letting Go, I liked Blue Sky Noises a little less. Didn't get hooked on to Dance Gavin Dance. Overall took only like 2 songs from them, I don't really like the huge amount of screamos and I think it gives a weird effect with the voice of the singer. Saosin is awesome, especially Seven Years lol the ones from the self-titled album are cool as well. Didn't really explore much more for now. So, any recommendations based on what I just said? :p

+Terra Nort You basically need to listen to anything from BlueSwan records. Then go to the owner of Blue swans band Dance Gavin Dance. You seem to like the bands that do less of the screaming so Senses Fail's old stuff is a good bet. Listen to the album Let It Enfold You and Still Searching. If you begin getting use to the screams then listen to Underoath. They are pretty much the legends of post hardcore.

Gauge Stibbs Aight, thanks. I already got used to screamos, the latest album from Hail the Sun has some of it. For Dance Gavin Dance I actually only listened to Instant Gratification. Only liked We Own The Night and Something New, and those aren't my favorites from my playlist or anything, 'twas just okay I guess. So not really my thing. And I mean I'd say Seven Years has a fair amount of screamos as well (and overall Translating the Name actually has a certain amount of it) yet I love it (though I admit the screamo parts aren't my favorites). I'll check those bands and albums out, thanks!

I grew up on job for a cowboy and the only thing remotely close wad Hawthorne heights. They're still more brutal. I say that because you need both an angry and empathetic conscious soul to understand and appreciate Saosin. This will always be my doordashing album lol and have a place in my mind. Amazing band amazing album 2nd and 4th songs are the best. Something more brutal even than Suicide Silence about the hard to soft vocals
