FYI, just released a NVMe version. The new version has 2 x 5Mbps USB B ports, and 1 x 10Mbps USB B port and 1 x 10Mbps USB C port.

Are you sure it's not the SSD in the Mac that makes the boot up fast as opposed to the operating system? I have a Windows PC that boots in seconds, off of an SSD.

Good question. I have a Windows PC with an i7 processor and an SSD drive, which takes a full minute to boot up. Maybe, that's just a coincidence. Let me perform some benchmarking trials, and I'll let you know ... possibly through another video.

I so wanted mine to work, but after 6 months of use, various ports have gradually failed, starting with the SD card slot. The final straw was the failure of the USB-C port on the front (which I’ve been using for an SD card reader). Great design, terrible quality and reliability. Given the success of this simple dock, I can’t understand why more high-end manufacturers don’t produce a better version, with an NVME housing.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the hub. I shall soon share my own experience after 4 months of ownership. It's probably going to be more positive than what you have mentioned ... but I have a couple of regrets too. Video in the offing ...

I was afraid to buy this. I was scared off by similar bad reviews. I went with an NVME enclosure that has no other ports. I'm using one TB port for my monitor, the other for my enclosure. I have no open TB ports. Sad.

Seems a little low quality for the price. I now is the top of the hubs in amazon. But 100 dollars seems a little too much.

True. At 77 EUR for the version with the SSD enclosure and 63 EUR for the base version, the Satechi hub does not come cheap. I like it because of its sleek design, and the fact that it makes the Mac more accessible. Maybe, there are other hubs that offer better value for money. Please let me know if you find any.

I read somewhere that the SSD slot has issues with M2 but works ok with the M1 and Satechi has no fix for that????????

@@randysouth5162 I also remember seeing that comment on Reddit or somewhere. But then, there were also examples of cases where it worked perfectly with an M2. I haven't bought my SSD yet.
