Born in ‘66 and feel that I was blessed to have grown up when I did. My friends and I had our bikes, our imaginations, and unlimited ideas on things to do for fun. Saturday mornings were pure magic with cartoons and cereal commercials. Who here remembers pestering your mom to let you buy every box of cereal that had a prize in it?
@ralphmontemalo6378

Lol. I used to make my mom buy all kinds of cereals just for the prizes, and then never ate half of them. That used to piss her off so much! Good times

Lol so true about the prizes. My sister and I did the same just for the prizes. My Dad finally ended that when my sister insisted on King Vitamin with the secret decoder ring; the cereal was awful but my sister had to finish the box 🤣

It's ashame kids nowadays don't know good quality cartoons . I was born in 67 and probably around 70 and 71 really started watching Saturday morning cartoons. I also had the Rockem Sockum robots. I remember just being lost in a magical world of Saturday morning cartoons. It's was a wonderful time

According to today's young people, my generation didn't have much in the way of entertainment, but this video just reran the memories of my childhood and early teenage years via sugary cereal commercials, Saturday morning cartoons and many of the toys and games my brother and I played together. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable trip back to simpler times. I wouldn't trade those years for anything our current times have to offer.

@@linasbutcher1914 so nice to see people around the same age! I was born in 61. I've been finding these times very trying! I also miss those times immensely. Thank God we have people like Johnny who Preserve a part of our history! This has been my sanity and my enjoyment. I am forever grateful for these videos and those like them. I love reading these comments especially in these trying times. People have become anti-social. I go to appointments everyone's on their phones playing games. No one addresses other people to say hello or have a little friendly conversation. I'm not used to this. I don't want to know someone's life story , just a pleasant little hello and exchange some pleasantries. Maybe I'm Wrong! I hope everyone's well and staying strong! Love from New England ❤

We loved Saturday morning cartoons. I had a Casper talking doll. Also had some of the games shown. Did you by chance ever play an outside night game called Spot? Yes, I used to get up early to catch the cartoons so I wouldn't miss a single one! I used to get around 5:30 or 6 :00 am (I forget which time) to watch "Hercules". I believe Johnny Nash sang the theme song to it. It came on KCOP channel 13 in LA over the antenna. We lived in northern SD county but our antenna got good to great reception. We usually got 12 of the 13 channels on our TV dial! We were able to watch all the LA and San Diego channels plus 2 Mexican stations. Channels: 2 KCBS, 4 KNBC, 5 KTLA, 6 XETV Mex., 7 KABC, 8 KFMB, 9 KHJ , 10 KOGO, 11 KTTV, 12 TJ, Mex., Station, 13 KCOP. That was BC (Before Cable) when, you know TV reception was free!

Then, later, when my Parents got up, while Mama was making breakfast for my Daddy (my Big Sister and I ate earlier), I’d clamber up, onto my Daddy’s lap where he was reading the Sunday paper. Y’all can probably guess what happened next. I’d kind of cutely insist that Daddy and I “read’ the funny pages together. He never refused me. Then, we’d all get ready for Sunday School. So now many of us are pre-diabetic or diabetic, depends on where one's A1C sits at most of the time, many just want medications to take care of this, when truly we can do it without them. Many are addicted to their smart phones, they are constantly quenching our thirsts for media and entertainment and as for the toys that we play with now, can be mechanical, can also be psychedelic. Whatever we choose, awareness is the key of their benefits or subtractions to our lives.

Myrtle beach seemed popular when I was 8-14 years old. Anyone recall the screamer 2 bike from sears? Or, the apple crate, gray ghost, lemon peeler schwin bikes of the early/mid 70's? Imagine some of us here lucky enough to see the debut of scoobe doo in 1968? Also, the monkees, johnny quest, land of the lost, and a long list of other vintage morning, afternoon, evening shows. Same with music groups/5-8.00 concerts with three top bands on the bill. The variety of legendary bands was endless, feeling the well would never run dry. Sports were amazing, from NFL, tennis, NBA to Ali and boxing. We had it all. Never imagined it being any different. Etched in stone memories to appreciate during the upside down world of today. Everyone here..chill and enjoy your final stretch of life's journey. Stay positive, anything is STILL possible to enjoy or achieve! That includes finding a new love.

(mind you, in 20-30yrs from now, kids born in the 90s are going to be saying the exact same thing about their own era - well, except for the unsupervised and adventurous playtime outdoors) ... every sense came rushing back to me. I remember all these great toys as a kid. I never got to play with any of them because we were too poor. However, my dad made all our toys. He would get a big box 5‘ x 5‘ and tell us it was a cave, go explore. He’d get us a ball of yarn and tell us it was a slinky go play. For stocking stuffer he would make those paper footballs and put them in our stockings. We always knew what it was because the stockings had holes. And most of time that was the only pair of socks we had. Dad will go outside during the summer and dig a hole about 2 foot deep about 8 foot wide fill it with water. And he would say I’m taking you to the pool today. That water was Muddy but it was sure cool on those hot summer days. We always had plenty of food because of the food stamps. The government provided. I think we got about 850 a month in food stamps. So dad really didn’t have to work.

Yeah kids today have no imaginations. OUR generation was BETTER. Too bad there won’t be any space craft going to Mars, AI, medical breakthroughs to save millions or iPhones like most of you are holding right now to watch this. Bunch of losers with no imaginations. Not like US!

this was the best era for any kid to grow up in, hands-down! brought back so many childhood memories of silly cartoons, exciting toys, family tv shows. when respect, values and common sense actually existed. glad I was born in '66! friday nights were just as great as saturday mornings bc we had creature features to start off our weekends. great video, thanx for the stroll down memory lane.... 👍👏💯

I know how you feel. Although I love my son, niece & nephews along with my surviving brothers I often feel envious that my mom will see all our love ones in a few years. Don’t get me wrong, she’s fine but in her 80’s. I feel like she’s waited so long to see my brother & sister, my dad & her parents. She’s had a lot of loss but is the strongest person I know 💋

I was born in 1970 and this video was just a wonderful trip down memory lane. We didn’t have a lot growing up but looking back, it was a great time to be a kid. The toys were better quality because everything wasn’t made in China, and the shows on TV were much better. It makes you look at today’s shows and cartoons-the difference is just sad.

Just what I needed after a tough day. I remembered everything in that video. I guess that means I'm old. Great times being a kid in the '60s and a teen in the '70s. Most of the toys in the commercials would be considered too dangerous today. How did we ever survive? How did our kids survive the Saturday morning crap in the '90s and '00s?
