Nothing pleases me more than creating a musical fusion of instruments from different cultures. So when my good friend Faraz Ahmad, the esteemed Pakistani Flute player brought over his box of twenty different sized Flutes one afternoon, we jammed on the flutes with the Double Bass, Harmonium and Piano.
Though the flutes went well with all the instruments, however sounded brilliant on “Khamooshee” (translated as Silence), a song I had written for Indus TV about poor children on the streets of Karachi in 2003 ( • Khamoshee 2003 (Silence) ).
For some strange and beautiful reason, the melodious and sonorous sound of the Flute combined with the flowing Piano created an uplifting and inspirational melodious anthem.
Here is part of the video clip we did on Facebook Live that afternoon; for some reason the ending was not saved. Since I had not jammed with anyone for a long time, I could not have wished for a better way to end my silence!!! :)
