Saudi Arabia is not the center of the world. And speaking of a new hub connecting East and West - Istanbul Airport is by far the better option with Turkish Airlines (The largest mainline carrier in the world). Saudi Arabia will never be attractive for the world, even with its oil money.

@@ABSDEFRD Saudia is beyond transformation: 1. complex management structure 2. bureaucracy 3. most importantly tightened up in complex royalties agreements with other airlines on the passenger flights related to pilgrims to holy cities which in turn dictated that Saudia must operate the main hub out of Jeddah (the closest airport to the holy city of Mecca). Hence it doesn't make economic sense to have its main hub in Riyadh, two main hubs separated by 1.5 hours of flight time, or a mix of product designs for 2 completely different passenger demographics. The best approach is to develop an airline startup from a white sheet of paper to serve the 2030 vision. By the way, another airline startup is in development right now by the same shareholder: Neom Airlines intended to serve Neom's economic zone.

Both Emirates and Qaterair changed when it comes to have a cheap option for the passengers. I used to be kind of permanent customer of Emirates and loved their generosity and good service but now it became unaffordable to fly with them.

What is at stake here is not the country where the project is developed, much less whether or not I will have the pleasure of flying with Riyadh Air , but rather the project itself. We are talking about the creation of a new airline, which will contribute a lot to the development of aviation as well as Saudi society itself and yes, I am very excited to see how the project develops over time and I believe that I'm not the only one.

Not really a a rivalry all state owned. PIF is the countries investment fund who started Riyadh Air and Saudi airlines is owned by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia lol all trickles down to the same state ownership. More if a partnership

Saudia Airlines will concentrate on pilgrims and Riyadh Air will concentrate on tourists.
