The Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United looks to be back on after the Saudi state resolved its issues with beIN Sports over illegal streaming of Premier League football.
The deal that would see an end to Mike Ashley's 14-year ownership of the club still needs Premier League approval, but significant progress has been made following the agreement between beIN and the Saudis on Wednesday.
It is believed an agreement between the Saudis and the Premier League could be reached soon, which would finally bring an end to the 18-month saga.

I've supported the club all my life with zero trophies to show for it. Now we may well start to get some success but I will not be able to enjoy any of it because it will be funded with blood money from the country which arguably tops the table for human rights violations. This takeover is in effect ending my support of the club I love because I cannot in good conscience cheer it on to success as a propaganda tool for the Saudi Royal Family. I'm gutted by this.

The club doing well will mean the Saudi's reputational propaganda ploy will also be succeeding. I'll believe it when I see Mike Ashley being walked out on the back of a camel. For us Toon fans, it's not about winning silverware or signing superstars - it's just about wanting to have our club back that we loved and to have hope and optimism that the owner is doing the best they can for the club and trying to make it the best version of itself.

Also in the years before Roman Chelsea were finishing top 6 every year winning 2 FA Cups, Cup Winners' Cup, Super Cup, League Cup, getting big results against the top teams, going toe to toe in the UCL with Barca and Milan We may not have had as big a trophy haul as Liverpool or United but we were still a London club with a tradition, we were a big club in my opinion because of the tradition First FA Cup final in 1915, massive pre war Crowds at the Bridge where Cup finals used to be played, League title in 1955, that infamous FA Cup final vs Leeds in 1970, Cup Winners Cup success against Real Madrid in 1971

If anyone deserves this. It’s us. 14 years of Ashley, Bruce, Alladyce, Houghton, Mcclaren, Pardew, negative, boring football. I’ve been to countless games to see us draw 0-0 with Norwich or lose 1-0 to Burnley. Every season just escaping relegation. Relegated in 2009 and 2016. I don’t want to hear anyone banding around ‘plastic’ when St James Park is full again, we’ve always had an amazing fan base

I'm a Villa fan so I understand your point we are in a similar situation but this is a totally different level compared to us. PIF is worth more than 350 Billion more than the combined wealth of every BPL club and will dominate world football for years to come. Think City times 100. This makes our clubs redundant we can never compete. Terrible day for football mate and terrible for our teams NSWE might walk away from us because of the absurdity of all this.

@@phillydavison look at monaco and other examples of failed projects where they could not keep their players after having a litte sucsess by their rich owners, and also united splashing 1b as much as city and havent won anything, so the money will help but cant be for sure it will be sucsessful
