Yes with the higher blade angle you don't need to skew the plane to avoid tearout. All the best, David.

....Seems I'm chiming in a bit late and being a bit forward tonight, I just thought I'd say that I made the blades in those planes. Worked at Hock Tools for 40 years. Wished I would have seen this years ago....

Your example shavings look to be on the heavy side. Do you have any difficulty in adjusting for a very fine shaving? I ask because some planes make it difficult get the setting 'just right'. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Marty, The walnut I was using was quite soft so the shavings could be fairly heavy. I prefer non adjuster planes and have no trouble with settings. It does take a little practice though! All the best, David.

looks like resin rather than wood,id sand that finish off whe i first opened it if i bought it

These planes are not worth it! They want 3 grand plus for them they are over priced crap!
