The paring line establishment for pin board really helped thanks a lot! I had much trouble with that before.

Hi David, as a starting but elderly woodworker I think I must had read about every design of workbench and your variant of a Scandinavian workbench is the one that makes most sense to me. I will be making the base from kiln dried Douglas fir and I would like to know if you think it would also be a suitable wood for the top. One day I might change it for a hardwood top but I need to build a basic bench before I improve it. My other question is about the finish, I notice that you paint your base rather than use an oiled finish, what sort of paint do you use and would you say it is better than linseed oil or is it just a personal choice. It is nice to see unpretentious common sense from the UK.

Do the example you have shown in this video have pins on the blades (pegas skip tooth blades) Can these saws take both types (ones with or without pins) does it matter for woodworkers?

Brilliant! Described and demonstrated in a charmingly modest, understated fashion. Makes one want to find out what else Mr Barron has been working on in the intervening eleven years.

One suggestion I have it to simply wrap the tape all around the board instead of fiddling around with trimming it four times. I also noticed he seems to be using small round tabs of masking tape as _face_ identifiers.

The Scandinavian workbench needs to be complemented by a work table.

Aircraft aluminum is a marketing term. It has absolutely no metallurgical meaning. Same with the marketing term "surgical steel;" another entirely meaningless term. Metals have designations that are more specific than some stick waving term like "aircraft." And you will find all manner of aluminum alloys on aircraft. For example there is 1100, 2014, 5062, 6061, 6063 Etc and they tend to lend themselves to different applications. For example gall and spall resistance when bending or weldability. I'd bet they made their aluminum saw frames from 6063 because it can be heat treated and has excellent resistance to tensile deformation.

Cool video, about thirty years ago I made a tool box almost identical to the painted green one you showed, I used 1/2 Baltic birch dovetailed together, when it’s loaded with tools , it’s heavy in fact I got tired of carrying it onto the jobsite every day and replaced it with a Kennedy carpenters tool box made of of thin steel

Update on these stones, they seem to absorb more and more water, especially in warmer weather and have to be sprayed infuriatingly often. I'll be selling mine and resorting to the splash-and-go variety where the water actually stays on the surface. I would not now recommend buying these stones. I fancy the quality has declined since DB first tried them.

I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up kzfaq.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

This is an incredibly well-designed table. I am very happy that I chose this over the "highest recommend" table on Amazon that you have probably already looked at if you are on this page.Something I didn't realize when I bought this was when you fold the table top down, it becomes one saw horse. Also it comes with high quality rubber snapping straps that allow you to hook two tables together. So buying two of these would be a good investment. The plastic is very high quality. It is heavy, sturdy and soft to the touch (not glossy like a cheaper plastic would feel)The clamps work really well in their slots. They feel solid and there is a place to store them on the legs when you fold it up.I live in an apartment and I do my wood working on the balcony, so this is a perfect fit. It would also be a good fit for people who need to be able to move their equipment like a contractor. This table is definitely a contractor grade design and material. This table comes with a 3-year warranty that you can fill out online or send in the mail with postage stamp paid by you.I could not be happier with this table, it would be nice if it had a router mount add-on, but none of the competition (except one of the poor-quality Husky tables that I looked at) has this feature. I went to all of my home improvement stores, read all the reviews for other tables and couldn't find anything that I fell in love with. I impulse bought this one based on it's looks and it turned out to be the perfect table.

Curious if this little idea took off amongst woodworkers? My husband Ben invented it. He died in 2016. He was pretty proud of it. I still have the one you sent him in its box somewhere which I’ll give to our son when he’s older.
