I am guilty of this. I brought my 5 year old son to the mall just to have some father son time at his favorite arcade. After that I decided to take him for a movie (with no previous knowledge on the movies that were out). When we saw the sausage party poster I thought it would be a great kids movie with food characters. Silly me did not pay attention to the rating. And the rest is history. His mom hates me till this day for that.
