There have been no residue left on my windshield yet, so will have to see... I am hoping to do a video review of 5 different brands of tablets with some testing to see if they are actually different or are all made in the same plant, and yes the liquid will freeze, so the description states that Methanol or De-Icer needs to be used (mixed in) for winter use, but I have not found anyone that makes a tablet for winter use - they all say to use Methanol or De-Icer.

Thanks for the question. I am using my common sense here, but I would assume that these are made by compressing a powdered substance into a tablet. The description says that these are a solid concentrate, so I would assume that they have found a way to create a powdered cleaning substance, and then they compress the substance and create a tablet that once put into water - dissolves and creates a liquid cleaning solution. It also states that this liquid can also be used to clean kitchen surfaces.

@@Outside-In. The main active ingredients in windshield washer fluids are usually some type of alcohol and/or ammonia, and distilled or reverse osmosis water. The reason those work is that they're excellent solvents for the junk that usually winds up on your windshield, they evaporate quickly, and don't leave a residue. None of them can be put into a tablet. It seems to me that they're selling you automatic dishwasher tablets at what seems to be a pretty good price. They probably do work pretty well for cleaning glass, but not as well as the other things I mentioned. Also, using tap water for cleaning glass is asking for trouble. Tap water always has a lot of minerals dissolved in it, which means that those minerals will be deposited on your glass when the water evaporates. If someone's really good at chemistry, maybe they can think of an additive that can prevent these deposits, but I'm skeptical. Also, that blue color is entirely marketing noise (which is understandable since most people are ignorant and respond to Pavlovian cues like this one).

​@@citizen127at I was looking for the box of tablets to give you a better answer for ingredients, but I have been doing allot of cleaning and moving things around, and I simply cannot find them LOL. I am going to have to order another box of these. Anyway... I didn't see any ingredients in the description, so that is why I decided to just try to explain how these are probably made. I would assume that there are no ingredients in these that you mention because they would then be good for winter use. The description specifically states this is not a winter solution, so it would need to be mixed with alcohol or some type of de-icer solution for winter use. I also checked to see if they sold specifically a winter tablet but can't find any from them. As far as tap water - everyone who washes their car at home, is using tap water, but you are right, tap water or garden hose water leaves stains on the vehicle from mineral deposits - unless it is properly dried. Having to use distilled water to wash everything could get quite expensive. They also state in the description "Our versatile effervescent tablets are not only suitable for automotive glass, but also practical for kitchen use, tile, window, mirror and so on, it is versatile that removes the kitchen stains and floor stains well."

Yes it will freeze, but not sure about 32 F. We will have to add a de-icer to it for winter use. The description states: Note: Please be aware that this is a summer formulation,Temperature Requirement > -5℃ (that would be >23 F). Thanks for the question - much appreciated.

@@LivingTheDream77 I can't find any information if they have a winter formula, they just say to use a de-icer or Methanol to mix with the solution for winter use.

If you're worried about it freezing just add rubbing alcohol to the jug when it gets cold and it should keep it from freezing.

​@@antonisautos8704 Yes, alcohol will work as well, but alcohol will evaporate if it is used in the reservoir causing it to freeze, and that is why I think they recommend a De-Icer or Methanol to be mixed with the fluid inside the washer reservoir and not alcohol. But yes mixing alcohol inside the storage jug should not evaporate because there is no way for it to get out. I may be wrong, but it is what makes sense to me anyhow. The reservoir cap is not sealed so any alcohol inside will evaporate. We used to use alcohol when I was a truck driver in windshield washer fluid as it helped melt the ice, but we had to use it right away or have to add more to keep the fluid from freezing because the alcohol would evaporate out of the washer fluid.

Yes it will freeze. The description states that we need to mix Methanol or a De-Icer to the fluid for winter use. I have looked and can't find anyone selling tablets for winter use - they all say the same thing, that Methanol or a De-Icer needs to be added for winter use. Hope this helps

@@Outside-In. Thank you. I have used windshield washer fluid in emergencies when I had a radiator leak in winter until I could make repairs. Cheaper than anti-freeze when it's just squirting out. Less toxic also.
