Brad, Good to see you were inspired by that book. Not sure that book can be a point of reference when buying the next sports card. Buying and selling cards are based usually on historical transactions. It does not have to involve psychological warfare. It’s about doing your research, know the price range that the card of interest will sell for and get the low end of the price to the best of your ability. Lowballing a seller just pisses them off. Offering premiums on top of comps is just as irritating. I run a Sourcing organization for a pharma company. Two of the primary rules my team follows are 1) know when to recognize reasonable pricing based on current market standards and 2) know when to walk away from an unreasonable offer. Our world has a lot to do with knowing market trends coupled with knowing historical prices. What I have been able to accomplish buying sports cards suggests the same principles apply here as well. We are not negotiating hostage situations. I do agree with you. That book is a solid read and provides cool insights, but it really applies very little to securing the right price when buying or selling sports cards.

Thanks for the response. I do agree with you on some of the tactics not crossing over as well. However, human psychology is present in everything. FOMO, greed, wanting to do business with people that we like, etc. Amazing read regardless! :)

What makes you stand out is the originality of your content. This was so interesting and I guarantee I will use this. Some people that I buy from always have "throw ins" of cards they give me as part of negotiation and I always bite because of it.

Brad, I think this is a very important video and you did a great job with it. Being a successful negotiator improves and strengthens our relationships with others. My 10 year old daughter garage sales with me every Saturday and I have encouraged her to always negotiate prices and her self-confidence and communications skills have been elevated to a new level. I'm sure she will watch and enjoy this as well. Thanks again.

Alot of nice points in this video I think getting the other person to talk is definitely smart law enforcement dose that all the time a rule i was taught a while back that i try to use alot if the first person that talks loses awkward silence sucks and people will often agree to your request if u just keep your mouth shut after you've said a price or asked them to do something

Then they’re not motivated. If they don’t want to make a deal (just like me on a handful of my cards) it’s a waste of time. For sellers looking to actually move a card, that’s where it gets interesting.

I’ve been in sales for over 20 years. U can’t teach a person to be a salesman. U either got it or u don’t. I go to these card shows, and it’s the same people at every show who always sell because there willing to give a discount on their cards generating repeat clients.

Why not just pay a fair price, build trust with dealers and other collectors and you will get deals coming your way for being fair.
@TheComebackCardInvestor
@TheComebackCardInvestor 2 жыл бұрын
All of the rapport and trust is within this strategy. It’s empathy based. At the same time if you’re over paying for everything, sellers will gladly call you first. It always has to be win/win but when they like us, it’s easier for them to feel like they won at a lower price.
