So much for "improving the breeds" and yet they fight for purposely breeding deformed and suffering animals. Thought one of the main goals for breeders is to breed healthy dogs with functioning bodies?

This is misinformation. Insanely disappointed in FCI now. You show dogs that clearly display signs of not having normal functioning bodies, having been bred for such extremes that their health is put to risk and then claim there is nothing wrong with it?! I love my pug, but I wish no dog would have to live with such a body, that it's a battle to just live like a normal dog.

It is funny and sad at the same time. "We breed healthy dogs" and at the same moment they have in the videos dogs that are rasping, have little muzzles, big nose rolls etc. Also for most of this breeds you have to xray the back and hips etc, did anybody of these people/breeders that and dont take a dog in breeding program, when it shows bad things? I have a fci french bulldog. Parents won a lot of titles and are champions. I thought i bought a good healthy dog by a responsible breeder. Thats not! My dog has the hole spine deformed, struggling with breathing and he has cherry eyes. I most take him to a vet and this vet must do operations on him, that he can live a hopefully little nor al live as a dog. These deformations are not coming from now! Parents didnt have any xrays, struggling also with the breathing and all my informations to the breeder had nothing change. Still breeding. My dog lays next to me and is sadly looking. He has the best home, but nit the best body! He is such a sweet boy and he and other dogs dont deserve such a life! Stop talking about healthy dogs, when you dont do anything for it!

Brachycephalic dogs suffer severely because of the characteristics they have been bred for. Dogs need snouts to breath properly. They should not suffer just for the sake of human vanity.

There are many breeders recognized for their good work with the bracephalic races. A law preventing these breeders will only make the problem bigger as it will increase illegal uncontrolled breeding. I am in favor of breeding regulated and controlled by recognized breeders in the different Federations. Yes to the pure races.

I think that all negative comments come from negative people who have problems with themselfs. With housband we have Boston terriers. Bostons, healthy bostons cames from good breeding program, are healthy dogs. Like at all other dog breeds. They can easy run 5 kilometers (3-4 at week). They breath normaly, like a human. They love sun, they enjoy their active life, they are happy dogs. Thank you for so positive and beautiful video to all involved!❤

Very nice video and very well said ... if they´re well bred (controlled breading), they´re healthy and long living, they CAN breath freely and be without any respiratory problems their whole life. They couldn´t survive thousend years, if they wern´t. We do not have the right to ban them, if they´s survived so many years..... Non of us is THE GOD to deside if they should live or not. Who come next ? Which breed ? Which animal species ? Which race ? ...

Please, do some research. Brachy dogs are perfectly fine if they are breed in proper conditions and if parents are healthy. Of course they will have problem if their parents aren't ok and don't have paper to say that is all right to breed them. However this isn't just brachy breed thing, it doesn't matter which breed it is, if parents aren't healty and they don't have the right to breed, you should't breed them. All this nonsence only allows the black market of puppies to grow. Why can't you see that? The problem isn't responsible breeders, the problem is black market breeders. And stay out of it if you just read some article! Leave this to responsible breeders!!

For those who have posted negative comments about brachy breeds, please do more research and find info from reliable resources. I have a brachy breed and my dogs are athletes ... they can outrace most any other dog on the beach, they compete in agility (and love doing it), they hike some high altitude trails with us. My dogs are a breed that dates back to the 1500’s, they are a breed with history. They are from breeders who have generations of health testing behind their lines. My dogs are much healthier than the average backyard dog. My oldest brachy lived happily to just shy of her 14th birthday - being a brachy breed did not impact her. I feel much more sorry for the many obese pets I see, and those who are played with as puppies, then retired to a backyard for the rest of their lives.

Your video shows dogs with breathing noises, dogs with huge wrinkles nearly covering their nose and dogs having trouble to get enough air through their nose. Why don't you want them to have a snout, with which they can breath? They will be still the lovely dogs they are, but without the shortness of breath. It's sad, that your "standards" have more priority than your dogs capability to breath normally.

Who wants to breed and then own physically handicapped dogs. Its messed up.
