When Americans think of small towns, they often think of places that can only be reached by car and that are boring or devoid of things to do. In New England, we do things differently. Many of our small towns have maintained a dense core, allowing for walkability, interesting shops/restaurants, and a greater quality of life. This video is the story of one such downtown that was saved and how the fight for our downtowns began.
Newburyport is not perfect, however, it is a good case study for how you can fight to save your own small town and better model it to fit the strong towns' model. Rural Towns don't have to Suck.
Also, I recently launched a Patreon to provide a place for our community to grow. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to join the Rural Urbanist Community!!! I'll be posting Patreon-only updates, early access to upcoming videos, and will recognize Patrons in the video credits. We honestly have a lot in common and I look forward to interacting with you on Patreon!!!

Finally, I've had an Instagram for the past few months where I put many of the stills that I cannot use in my videos. Enjoy!
