Is Creality's Falcon 2 Pro Laser Engraver Really New And Improved? (A Saveitforparts Review)

Last year I reviewed the original Creality Falcon 40W laser engraver and had a few concerns about it. This year, Creality has a new upgraded version, the Falcon 2 Pro. They've fixed a lot of the issues I had, including a much better enclosure and improved airflow and reliability.
The laser is very powerful and fast, I was able to do most of my engraving and cutting projects in under an hour per design.
The included 1.6W low-power laser as a great bonus, and engraves much more detail on delicate surfaces than the main 40W laser.
The only real downside of the Falcon 2 Pro are the built-in material support slats. They aren't as good as a traditional honeycomb support, and don't allow materials to be held down. For any warped or heat-sensitive materials like wood or plastic, the slat system doesn't work very well.
The smoke extraction and safety features on this were great. The addition of a built-in webcam and internal light were also really nice improvements, and overcome some common issues of other lasers.
You can find the Falcon 2 Pro at the links below:

There are 3 constants in the world, Death, Taxes, and Italian Chat Bots lol. Great video, been curious about these desktop style lasers and laser cutters for a while - I'm hoping they go through a big boom like home 3d printers did and quality/features goes up and price goes down

It's always funny to see how (unintentionally) culturally insensitive they get. When I watch Dutch videos they are 9/10 commenting in German instead. I know swamp german is a thing but come on!

A great way to position stuff like those medalians is to get a block of wood and etch a pocket the size of the coin into it, then without moving the block put the coin in the recess and it should be registered.

Something you might try for greater dissipation of gases from the laser assembly is to use higher pressure air. I would recommend 15 to 30 PSI and you'll want an air dryer to remove any humidity from the line.

9:02 That's analogous to a fixturing issue. There's not enough mass in the piece, or there is insufficient support under the piece, once it's cut. Cut small things one at a time to prevent errors.

40+ years ago when I worked on DOD depot maint military aircraft, we had laser engravers marking each of our tools even down to dental pics small with markings to our toolbox, as a lost tool is FOD and can take down an aircraft..sad to see this technology hasnt progressed at all when its been around for decades...

You could adjust the cut to leave little sprues so parts don't come off and jam the laser. Little cutting, little sanding and there you go.

I find that the burning on the sides doesn't happen if I use Dynamic power when I am engraving. I only use constant power when I am cutting.

Ha! That was my attempt at making a scale model to help us assemble it. If it worked I was going to do 4 more copies, with the numbers engraved on each piece, then hot glue them together. Fortunately we didn't end up needing it, we were able to puzzle things out in the field :-) That video should be out next week!

I use Lightburn (Gcode) on my homemade 80W laser and it is well worth the money IMHO. It's not that expensive anyway. My steel sheet below also gets nasty, its normal. Wood sheets warp, i weigh them down with chunks of metal to help keep them flat. Nice stamp! we are laser engraving our own stamps as well out of the same material for Opensauce. We're the guys with the Coilgun. Muahaha!

I still bet anything ArcDroid would send you a unit, just in exchange for a review, or content operating it during a cool project. Maybe use it to revisit electricity generation and energy storage at Sandland, and maybe even at home. You can design and build incredible things with one, and some flat stock steel, or other alloys.

Your slat system problem can be solved we use a specially designed slat hammer clamp thing to hold down material. I imagine if you scale it down it would work just fine. I really wish I knew the name of them
@jetryder
@jetryder 2 ай бұрын
Even cheaper: two washers, the right size bolt and a nut. Basically just clamp the parts to the slats.

Hi i just have a question i just found a AKG T19 headset that my dad bought a year ago the coolest thing about it is it does not use wired or bluetooth to transmit audio it uses radio signal it transmits in 863 - 864 mhz it works with no problem there is a aux cable it comes with it. Then you have to connect a red and white wires to a box. That also comes with the headphone first connect those 2 red and white cables then connect the aux to a device then there is a switch in the box it says "FREQ" then there are three switch under it "1 2 3" it does not work when it is on freq 1 but it does in freq 2 you just connect aux in your device phone laptop etc then play anything and you will be able to hear it. My question was can i do any projects with it because it transmits radio signals thank you! (There are vedios on the internet about it and how to use it ) :)

Interesting! I don't know specifically what you could do with it beyond using it as a headset. I'm sure there are a few options, but you'd have to experiment!

Rule, or graduated guide, not ruler. Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping et el, are rulers. Rule means to control, not gauge, guide, or measure. I agree, the slat style bed, is a disapointment. Though, as you said that it can be replaced, not a serious issue. The power of the 40 module, is impressive. Certainly a plus. Again, another great and well balanced, critique.

It's really interesting that Creality uses the term TF Card, I can reverse engineer why but for everybody that didn't look into this, TF stands for Trans Flash, which is the original name for the ubiquitous memory card that is smaller than an SD card. MicroSD arose as vernacular and they embraced it, TF is no longer used but still technically valid. From my Ender 3 S1, there are both SD and TF cards in use, you have to use the TF card to update the firmware of the display, SD for the firmware of the main board as well as gcode files, so it's useful that they use two unambiguous names. Is that why they do it? Who knows, I won't bet on it
@kiplinght
@kiplinght 2 ай бұрын
You have to pay a licensing fee to use the "SD" trademarks, TF card is a generic term

I’m no expert, but don’t you open the slats and turn the fan high then use sheets to cover the unused space to suck down the work piece?
@saveitforparts
@saveitforparts 2 ай бұрын
I don't think the fan is strong enough, also it's mounted above the slats, not below.
