Saving Black Skimmers

You see this bird flying along Texas beaches skimming the surface of the water, it’s the Black Skimmer, and it’s in trouble. Take a look at efforts underway to save one of the most threatened coastal birds in Texas.

This episode was on again this morning. Absolutely fascinating. Their bills are like needle-nosed pliers.

I saw this amazing bird for the first time, a couple days ago. I fell asleep with a video on You Tube, and then a different video came on, with this beautiful bird on it. I didn't get the name of it, but I was awe struck by this bird. I googled a description and learned it's name, Black Skimmer. How cool they are!

I saw a black skimmer in Redwood City, California at the Bayshore during a fishing trip once. I was really confused because I didn’t think that we had them here but it’s the only thing it could’ve been. There aren’t very many other birds that you could mistake for a black skimmer.

Islands are posted, the fisherman should have been ticketed, or confiscation of his gear, Car, truck and fishing equipment. Possibly increase the posted area. If fishing throw into the area not walk through the area.

Being in a big fishing tournament is all the more reason you ought to learn about the laws pertaining to the wildlife you enjoy. Not a real sportsman just a boy with a pole.
