Saving Every Cent from KZfaq and Buying a Yanmar Mini Excavator: We take delivery of a Yanmar Vio 25-4 Mini Excavator. I talk about some of the factors and what led up to my decision to buy a Yanmar. We get to the cabin and wait for the delivery, we get the machine unloaded off the trailer, pay for it and then go to work. I re-do a ditch on the side of my road and then we work on another section of our off grid gravel access road up on top of the hill.

Congrats on your new toy. You will need a thumb for the excavator. Build a large fully closed shelter to preserve the value of the machine. You may need a trailer to move it around as it can pay itself off with some odd jobs. 100 Dollars here and there will get it paid of fast. Watch Andrew Camaratas videos. Oh and keep it clean. Rust loves dirt. Enjoy your tracking journey.

Aston Martin, I second this comment. Build some form of shelter to keep the machine out of the elements. Also, keep in mind side job excavating work. My uncle grosses between $500-1000 per day with his business. He has two mini excavators and also has a full size cat. Think about installing a hydraulic thumb as opposed to a fixed one. Take my word, it makes the machine much more productive

BEST VIDEO YET! Everyone loved seeing how gleefully happy you were! Andrew Camarata would be so proud! Remember, if it ever loses its track to watch his video's on how to get it back on! You've stated before how much renting one meant to you and what you could get done. You parked it behind the cabin. Now you can push those tree's over behind the cabin and get rid of them. I am so happy for you. It's almost 2pm in Ohio. I'm working on a rental house to sell. It's good to see things getting accomplished and you feel pride in doing it. Now we need to get you a "thumb" for above that bucket. That way when you go to knock down tree's or just want to pick up good dead wood you can bring them to the cabin and saw them up for firewood. Look into how much that will cost for that model Yanmar.

Louak Kraaij its fun living in America but as you grow older you learn about government and spending of money. As you know the world is changing and going through a process called pandemic from a virus that was diagnosed over in China but it wasn't brought to our attention until around February or March and it was definitely decided to shutdown all people coming in to the USA and going out of the USA to slow down this virus. Basically the USA was shutdown except for health care workers and gas stations and grocery stores and most of them reduced hours and would let the elderly have a 2 hours advantage but to put things in perspective the virus was much more spread and difficult to get ahold of medical supplies because noone was working across the world basically. And I believe China knew well before they told the world that there was a virus and in fact the virus deal was well on its way of being spread all around the world and needed a big prayer to slow it down or find a cure for it such as a antibiotic of some sort. And it didn't help for China to hack numerous companies that were trying to curtail the pandemic and now the FBI is involved I guess. If you go back to when they made you go to a location back in the 60's to get vaccinated and I remember lining up at a school with your parents and brothers and sisters and you would walk by a nurse and she would shoot you in the arm with a vaccine and I still have the mark from when they did it. I believe they did the same thing for poliovirus.

AWESOME MIKE!!! You are going to have some awesome new content with this thing! I know you'll get a thumb at some point, but man, the first thing I would do is get rid of the alarm. All that beeping will make you insane. Should be two wires. Also, keep an eye on the finals. Make sure you change the oil in them every 50 hours. It might seem like a short amount of time, but it's easy to do. Minis are SUPER hard on finals. Also, get a GOOD grease gun. You have DeWalt tools, I'm pretty sure they make one, get that soon and make sure to keep it greased well! Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance and it'll live a nice long life! @TF856
@TF856 4 жыл бұрын
@@randywendel that machine is probably plumbed already for the hydraulics of the hydraulic thumb. He just needs to get the arm and the hydraulic cylinder mounted. Just be careful using a hydraulic thumb with the bucket. It's easy to force the thumb back by curling the bucket and that can damage the cylinder seals in a short time.

When trying to pick up big rocks and carry items in your bucket, utilize the blade on the machine and use it with the boom to push the boulders in the bucket. Seat time you'll get much more fluent with it the longer you run it.

Awesome Mike!!! Your machine is precisely what we need at our mountain cabin in NC (45 acres, mostly hilly). I know exactly what you mean by the vegetation hitting the sides of the truck. We stayed home on the coast due to COVID, but went up there this past month (we usually go out in early spring to trim and prune and take care of dead fall). The weeds were as tall as cornstalks! My husband basically cut everything with a weed wacker with a blade. There was poison ivy everywhere (I"m highly allergic) so instead of doing poison ivy hunting like I do in the spring, I was only able to spray the gravel driveway (about 1/4 - 1/3 mile). I watch Andrew Camarata, Outdoors with the Morgans, Diesel Creek, and Lumnah Acres. I too want to put in trails, dig ditches to protect the driveway and paths, and put gravel on low spots in the driveway. We just got a jeep (used) to get around due to mud and steep inclines and it performs wonderfully!) I love it there in early spring, summer and autumn and even in December but January, February, and most of March is just too cold for me. I think I like it best when there are no leaves on the trees. I watch your amazing progress and just love your approach to life.

A Cabin and 50 Acres don’t know your plans. But maybe you could build a small pole barn style building? Let’s say it had just a tin roof this year. You could always tarp the sides for the winters until you finish the house. Then build your storage building the way you like. Enjoy!

Great buy. Now would be a great time to start keeping track of the hours you spend on each job around your place. Will let you know when you have broken even by not having to rent one for those jobs and also might help you with a depreciation schedule if ever needed for taxes. People usually forget to keep records till way later then think, man I wished I had kept track of all the jobs I used it for. Cool little machine. Love it.
