I put cupcake paper on the top of my flour or powdered sugar before I put the lid on and vacuum seal. It makes the vacuum sealer work better because it keeps the flour particles from going in the sealer and clogging it up.

I did the strawberries in a large gallon jar. It’ll be two weeks since I bought these and they are still firm and delicious. Normally they’d be moldy after 4 days.

Knowing that 3.5 cups of flour is in each quart jar since most bread recipes call for that measurement.

One tip is to put all your flour, cornmeal, pasta, dried beans, rice, anything that can have weevils in them into your freezer for about 3 days. Take them out and let them come to room temperature and then store in jars. If you keep boxed or bagged items in your pantry, you could possibly get infested with weevils. You’ll notice tiny small holes in boxed food or bags and weevils in the food. You will have to toss everything out when this happens. Ask me how I know. 🙁😂

Wow thank you so much ❤ for sharing. I had been trying to accomplish storing my produce 100% before they expired. Now I can see how using my vacuum sealer & Mason jars will help me doing this.😊 I had to change my lifestyle eating more greens, whole foods & daily exercise- meditation. With that I learned about preserving our own foods with pressure/waterbath canning, dehydrating and sealing. Now I can go a step further, thank you. rduBoise

Put a coffee filter, paper towel or cupcake liner on to[ of the flour then put the lid on and vacuum seal. No problems with flour escaping into the vacuum sealer then.

I have that sealer and i love it. No issues with it and if you temove the large end it reveals the end for regular mouth jars. It has held its charge for months now but easy to recharge when the time comes. Charger cord was included plus some labels and even 6 lids. A bonus surprise for me.

I was so excited about this vacuum sealer when I got it, because I love to have the ability to vacuum seal in jars. I thought it was something that I was or wasn’t doing to it to make it not seal properly but after inspecting the device the seal was warped so I’m hoping to send mine back to the manufacturer and get a replacement.

Mark the flats so you know they were used in dry vac storage. If we carefully remove them we reuse for dry vac storage. Also we use a brake bleeder sometimes to seal when we are in our outside pantry shed (no electricity for the Food Saver).

What is a brake bleeder?
@vinlago
@vinlago 5 ай бұрын
@@kdwetzel3251 a brake bleeder is a tool to draw the brake fluid out of your car. However it can be attached to a foodsaver jar vacuum adapter in order to dry vacuum seal canning jars. Only use a brake bleeder that has never been used on anything else. Connect the air hose to the foodsaver jar vacuum adapter and the other end to the brake bleeder tool. Place a clean flat lid on a jar. Place jar vacuum adapter over jar and flat lid. Squeeze the brake bleeder handle repeatedly to draw air out of the adapter. Eventually a vacuum is created and the lid seals to the jar. Try to get as much pressure out of the tool as possible for a longer lasting seal.

The problem with the marshmallow one is that the vacuum makes them bigger because it is sucking the air out of them. When released from the container they deflate.

What is the name of the recipe book that you are using for the sausage recipe? Great tips, thank you. I have been measuring my flour in 4 cup increments and putting it into a lunch bag, then putting it into vacuum sealing bag and vacuum sealing it. It makes bricks of it. I would love to use the mason jars, but I do not have enough of them to use that way right now. I am going to try the vegetable storing method you showed.
