Hello there, how are ya? Welcome back to howididit. The floors are clean, the magic cleaner was 3% peroxide, an oreck floor machine with a oreck scrub brush, followed by my twister diamond pads, and a whole lot of patience. This was a lot of time consuming work, but the time and effort saved me $11,000! The only thing I have left to do on the floors is waxing/sealing.

Great job! I rented a floor buffer from HD and I failed to have the upper body strength according to the tool rental manager. (I had a major hole in my freshly painted wall because the machine went flying when I turned it on.) HD would not pay for the damage because I’m a weakling. I notice that you use the Oreck without any struggling from what I could see. I am at a crossroads if I should do this process or continue with my plan of porcelain tiling over. I’m trying to solicit opinions from people dealing with homebuyers as I most likely will be selling my home next year. I’m wondering what flooring will give me more added value. So far the feedback is hardwood. In Florida only 2 to 3% of homes have actual real hardwood due to the extreme humidity and potential flooding from our yearly hurricanes. I’ve been told her you can’t do hardwood then you should do a wood look for example, the luxury plank vinyl, or a porcelain with a woodgrain pattern. I have never seen a home for sale in Florida with restored Terrazzo. I have stayed in a hotel close to Fort Lauderdale Beach that had a beautiful Terrazzo restoration. Did you have to use any epoxy resin coating to obtain a very high shine?

You are phenomenal!!! The hydrogen peroxide is amazing to remove thinset residue and any stains! From the bottom of my heart.. thank you so much!!! Btw I got the hydrogen peroxide at home depot and they have a higher number.

Thank you for the instructional video. The link for the diamond pads was not working. Do you remember the brand and grit diamond pad you used. There are many different types and they are very expensive. Thank you!!

I have a question about the first pad that you used… Does it have any sandpaper quality to it or is it just a mesh scrubbing pad… You use the word diamond and so that implies to me that it’s a sanding pad… Thanks for your time

The pads have diamond flakes embedded in them, kind of like the different grades of sand paper, when you look at the pad from and anglr you can see the sparkles. I wasn't sure they were doing anything, so I tried regular pads, and the scrub-brush attachment on a smaller bedroom, they did ok, but the diamond pads made all the difference. The key is take your time, and follow the manufacturers directions for the best results.

how did you fix the nail holes from the carpet strips?

I actually used unsanded pre mixed tile grout, just a few different colors, i applied it in a random pattern with a putty knife, once it set up, I wiped it with a damp/slightly moist sponge to blend the edges, let set up, another quick wipe with a moist sponge, finished with a soft cloth to wiped the haze grout leaves. It's not perfect, but my friends say if I hadn't shown them they wouldn't have noticed. A quick coat of Dep wax, sealed it nicely.

Did you only use 1 diamond pad? Usually it’s a set of 3-4 to achieve the maximum “finished” look. I have an Oreck and really want to challenge myself to restore a marble floor with the Oreck. Almost everyone says it can’t be done, but the Oreck seems to always come through no matter the challenge!

Hello there, nope, I used all four pads, starting at the coarsest grit. I was happy with the results, but, it was a painstaking long process, patience was a must have.

@@lordsgirl111 you’re welcome, what are you trying to accomplish? I use this machine for my steam cleaning business and have pretty much done everything with it except marble or natural stone floor polishing.

ZEP floor sealer, then buffed on ZEP floor wax. The wax can be mopped on, but I found buffing it in made for a smoother surface.

Terrazzo should never be sealed.

Actually terrazzo requires a minimum of two coats of sealer not “wax”, not finish, not “top coating” hut two coats of sealer to protect from. Stains and is last step after fill twister diamond pad process from a full restoration. Only a noon wouldn’t seal it.
