2/18/2019 USA Men, I've read many of your comments, and I agree with most of you: hard work does kill, maim, debilitate, wear out our old bodies. And if dangers are hidden by the bosses we are in danger of long, painful, agonizing deaths from cancer-causing agents in the processes. We spend our youthful vigor, proud in our strength. We sacrifice ourselves for the women we love and the children we sire. The landowners, investors, the white collars make their livings off the hard work of us. One hidden danger in this video is the band saw. I've worked one of those here in the USA in a mill. It is as dangerous as a semipsychotic PMS armed with a loaded gun whose child is missing. If one of those blades snaps during work, it speeds out of that saw and quicker than you blink your eye, it rips off arms, legs, heads, and bodies in half. The work it does is unequaled, but the danger requires respect. Our instructions were that if we heard a certain sound we were to back up as fast as we could. The men in this video who are making pennies a day probably don't have a real idea of how much money that great huge wonderful slab for a custom table in the USA is worth. As a woodworker I covet that center slab. To my eyes it is beautiful and capable of becoming wonderful useful things. Thanks to their sweat and spit, that slab goes to someone who will spend a small fortune unseen by the workers. I'm glad we get to see videos like these. I'm glad we've got KZfaq to watch. Our world is so much smaller now. I feel a bond with those men in the video, and with those of you who have commented. I don't know what good it does, and whether we die tomorrow or next year. Maybe what we are doing observing and commenting will have effect somewhere else.
@Arien_People5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the advice, sir. They knew what they were doing was very dangerous, and I think they already knew what to do. If they could choose, they would not choose jobs like this. I just hope that they stay healthy and nothing happens. Thank you, Sir. Greetings.

+ Scruffy 61 -- That saying about "hard work never hurt anybody" is pure bullshit!! My body is absolutely worn out from working too hard for too many years, and I am now a crippled shell of the person I used to be. How come so many joints are being 'replaced'(hips, knees,shoulders, etc...) if that is a true mantra? Not to mention "carpal-tunnel syndrome" which has affected millions of formerly productive workers who now wince in pain everrytime they move their thumbs and fingers to grab an object. I want to spit every time I hear that lie repeated!!

Spending a few thousand dollars on some log and slab handling equipment, like rollers and winches would make the worker's jobs so much easier, safer and faster.But I guess it is more profitable to just buy a new worker when someone gets injured. In the US, only the smallest mills have hydraulics to load logs and rotate them to the proper orientation for sawing. And there are very few without at least a winch to pull the carriage past the blade.

buggsy5 . yes , yes, and here we go again... in the US this, in the US that... display of lack of reasoning... ... a better thinker will try to imagine it from the point of view of these people... rather than be spiteful. ... thought of what these men will do for a living if machines did the work? The owner saves money... what money is questionable... ... the psychology of working at the mill?... priceless... ease of accomplishment is not the only determinant in play... ... but of course... will make a lot of sense to get machinery to do it... saves time, is efficient, less dangerous... .... however, is there even the money for that?... simply a meager operation to keep life going... not to became rich. Now. “In the US...” the southern states did not industrialize... why?... with human labour?.... and to make it sweeter, it was free. ... as you can see, non of those men there is complaining and lamenting their misfortune in life or place of birth.

People here in the USA see this and say. OMG that’s no way to work people. Well how do you think all the very old still standing buildings were done? Not like today’s crap that maybe will last 30 or 50 years. Nothing wrong with hard work. They use what they have and do it with pride and mill some of the best lumber you will ever find. To many so called men have gotten so soft and afraid to work without some Hightech mechanical item doing all the work. Yes that mill is old and maybe older then most of us watching this video Well why do you think it’s still running? Because it was made by real men, not the now a day fat belly soft hand wimpy man of today. So pull your panties up and do some real work

Yes you are absolutely right. It is the Obama plan. Everybody should go to school and learn basket weaving and origami. That way you can pay 300k for a P.H.D in physics so you can be turned down for a job at Walmart because you are overqualified. Everybody can start out as a manager working at a management company. Life will be great and you will have more time for rainbows and unicorns. Then when you think guns are icky and meat is a sin, they can round you up by luring you into a fema camp with a sign for a free tofu hamburger and soy latte. Then they will kill you by making you watch Hillary take her clothes off. *shiver*

2 things come to mind when watching this video: 1) Why don't they have an automatic blade watering system? Would that really be so hard to install? (instead of the guy getting dangerously close to that blade to lubricate/water it) and 2) Why would the one worker be covering his face with a rag, to keep from inhaling (whatever) fumes might be present at the cutting point, when he's SMOKING A CIGARRETTE??? LOL

@@bastermanalu8893 that's exactly correct. For the most part there are no safety concerns while working in S.E. Asia; no tie-off, othen, when working 7 stories up, flip-flops standard working attire, of course no, or little workers' type insurance -- the employer will often contribute to the funeral however, hard hats are slowly coming about, scaffolding 6, 8, 9, stories up with 'very' thin-walled tube topped off with some old pieces of lumber for planks, many construction sites workers live on-site, no, I mean in the building cooking with charcoal sometimes with the glow visible from outside. And if you don't like work conditions that's okay too, just quit and you'll be replaced by the end of the day. Life is sort of cheap.

After watching several of this type of videos, I still haven't found out what it is that they are lubricating the blade with. At least that's what I'm assuming they're doing when brushing that fluid on the blade as it rotates. Or possibly cooling the blade? Anyone know what it is?
@Arien_People5 жыл бұрын
They cool the blade with water.

It should be diesel to keep the sawdust (resin) from gluing on the wheel but most probably its just simple water. Water should best be poored on top of the cutting process and this guy is throwing it where the saw comes out of the wood so it could be diesel oil .

Eric French I too right away noticed foot-safety concerns. Also absent: an annoying Mr. Know-It-All boss shouting commands like workers are idiots (or nearly asleep). Yet their impressive teamwork gets ‘er done; each one carries part of the load. (Impressive culture and nice work product.) If it was my op, all would have better shoes, maybe also improving productivity. Best safety practice: cameras everywhere!
