@@Adirondack_Gimp92 I'd imagine that a lot of ladies watching would love to find out where Brittany got them! It's a very popular look these days. That said, I subscribed - my dad was a carpenter and passed on to me some appreciation for folks who work with wood. Seeing this channel and others that show milling is fascinating! Some of my way-back ancestors in the family tree (sorry, no pun intended!) ran saw mills back when they were water-powered, so I also have some historical interest.

My dad taught me what I knew back in the day. Unfortunately for me I had a car accident years ago it took away a lot of my physical abilities to do that, especially the lack of hand dexterity, but up until just a couple years ago I could still do a little things here and there. But I still maintain that appreciation for it carpentry that is done well. And any kind of woodworking in general. There's such a lack of skilled people today that it does make you wonder what the future holds. Or on the other side of the issue, there are those imposters that think they can do carpentry work, and then after they finish the job for you, you obviously know they really don't have a clue. Unfortunately, I've come across a couple of those. Anyway, I'm getting a little long-winded here, but I understand what you're saying for sure. Growing up in the Adirondacks, we used to go to the local sawmill to get slabwood pine, $5 a truck load to cut up for kindling. Or take a nice, thicker decorative piece and make it into a coffee table. Or something else. The only limit was your imagination. You just reminded me of something; in my basement, even today, is my father's original Skill Saw. I swear this thing could cut through a dozen 6x6s, and it would never slow down. It's from the 1950s, draws about 13 amps, and you better have a firm hold on that, or you're going for a ride. When I was a little kid, there were two things that got me running to see what Dad was doing; the smell of his table saw cutting through pine in his workshop in the basement, or the crack of that Skill Saw starting up on some project he was working on inside or outside. The moment I heard that, I had to go see what he was doing, lol. When I was old enough that he taught me how to use it myself, he always said that was the only power tool he used when him and my mom built the camp in the late 1950s. And it was. He used to say if it ever broke, he was going to have a gold-plated lol. Sadly, when I'm not here anymore, I don't know who I'll leave it to. Either way, I'm sure it'll still be cutting just as strong as it was when I last used it in the early 1990s. Take care, and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

You mean the end of the log that's cut off? It's referred to as a "butt end." What did you think of the logs and all that nice wood coming of the mill?

Absolutely! Definitely don't skip on the safety gear. This is coming from a quadriplegic from a car accident. Granted, that's totally different, but stuff happens in a split second. Be safe.

​@@wallacefarmandsawmill ware you guys located out of. if you head has the room upgrade to a 52" blade you'll be amazed how much easyer you can cut bigger stuff and you don't even need more rpms on the motor either. if ya do it won't need much tho.

Drag chain with paddles that drags the sawdust out of the pit under the blade, makes that big pile of sawdust you see. My dad had a mill like this, until it burned.

There are different kinds of pine. Some are better than others are. I think Southern Yellow Pine is excellent wood.
