I love those woodmeizer mills. We hired someone but our hay barn, implement shed and winter chicken coop are all made from lumber grown and milled here. So nice to have our own lumber for projects. Creates a lot of fire wood and kindling too. You have a nice one, those are quite spendy

Hey Josh, I'm a Forester, Virginia pine is technically not a Southern Yellow Pine. It's a pine yes and has yellow wood but there is something about the wood composition that it does not fall into the yellow pine category. It can not be labeled or sold as such so at a mill or store it can not carry the SPIB or any other inspection groups certification as a SYP. Just passing on a little bit of technical knowledge.

Try adding some Pinesol and Dawn dishwasher to the windshield washer fluid. Also you have quite a bit of rust on your blade guide arm. Clean off the rust and coat it with ATF. WM has full covers for the cutting head. I also cut (lengthwise) some 1 inch PVC to cover the rails that the mill rides on.

Like your videos. What puzzles me is how this works economically??? You say your a first generation farmer. What a SUCCESS STORY!!! Would you please in a future video go into the financials of the farm. From your videos I gather you have 150 acres and 33 cows, you buy your hay, over 100 bales a year….. and you have a new four wheeler, John deer tractor, saw mill, mega shop ($70,000 concrete pad)….and much muchmore as seen from the drone video. HOW DID YOU DO IT? For many of this perspective is very important. Thank you for many great videos. MAY 2023 BE YOUR BEST YEAR YET!!!! (We too are first generation farmers and have 120 acres and 20 cows , and I can only dream of your place and equipment !) (If it was not for success off the farm, we’d have no tractors and all the other necessary equipment.)
@StoneyRidgeFarmer
@StoneyRidgeFarmer Жыл бұрын
not sure about "success story" because I've clearly demonstrated how the farm isn't making money. Let me ask you...what do you think I do for a living? Do you think I spend 80 hours a week farming 33 cows? You work a job in town...I've built a successful social media business. You're watching the most popular first generation farming and rural lifestyle youtube channel on the planet brotha...built from the ground up with over 2000 videos. Open your eyes to a new diversified farm income.....that's what pays the bills here brotha....you can do it too but it takes countless hours with no income what so ever!
@johnkese8953
@johnkese8953 Жыл бұрын
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Thank you for the informative answer. Much appreciated! We too have spent many many hours making our acres by improving the pastures , the timber areas, ponds and fencing in many pastures to keep cows out of the streams and to do rotation grazing. I do hay because I like it and I help our neighbors “save” their small field from red cedars even though it’s lot and lots of hours….(I could spend “fishing “) It’s not that I don’t work hard, to make our place GREAT, but rather that the economic of it ARE VERY NEGATIVE. I got the impression from the intro title to the videos the your farm produced the revenue to fund the activities. If you tell me that BEAUTIFUL stuff you have is because of your success from OFF THE FARM……THAN WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE. We too put $20 to $50,000 a year to make a great FIRST GENERATION FARMER. AND , it is still a lot of work. I like your videos and congrats on your success, yet I still think a video on the ECONOMICs ( ie an rough annual income / expense overview of the farm ) would be welcome by your many, many viewers. HAVE A GREAT 2023, BROTHA.

Pine is light and easy to work. Nails and screws go in easily. You are right they should be using the hard wood. It. Is about production rate. Takes much less time to build with soft wood. If building it yourself use oak. Use screws and drill first and then put the screws in. Get lots of help or mechanical advantage lifting wall sections into place. FAA has great information on wood properties by species and how to connect it (from when people made wooden aircraft).
