--------------------------------------------------
In this video, we're going to show you how you can stop hitting pulls.
This is one of the most frustrating shots in the entire game, but it's also one of the most common shots that we see amateur golf players make aside from slicing the ball or hitting it fat.
We're going to show you how much damage this shot can cause & how you can keep it out of your golf game!

This could legitimately be the best advice I've heard since learning golf, because the 'arm down the chest' movement is so powerful because its not only very visual and you can physically feel it as it moves down your chest. I'm practicing this right now and it's transformative. I genuinely cannot thank you two enough, youve really saved my soul. I was at a place where I wanted to quit the game I love, due to my over-the-top swing, that I couldn't fix. I'm so relieved.

it really is amazing. I watched this a year ago, it never clicked until about a week ago. once you feel that move of hands away (corner of room) to start the downswing it all makes sense.

Such good technical advice, but even moreso, such brilliant swing-change advice. Had a lesson today trying to fix this, and did exactly what you said. Got the 'feel' using a few drills, then went and hit balls full speed. When my coach was recording me 'feeling through' the new motion in some 30% speed practice swings before hitting, it was all good. But as soon as I went to hit the ball the old motion came in again. So yeah, really appreciate how good you guys are with the swing technically, but also in terms of habitual change!

Great video. Exactly what my problem is. Pulls, long divots and a low left shoulder at impact, although my hands were forward. I tried a lot of remedies including trying to push the left side back at impact more and more. but to no avail. I did not realise that the problem was caused by path and my left upper arm moving away from my chest too soon. Thanks to you! I now have a better impact position with a higher left shoulder, much shorter divots! And a better ball flight. Thanks to your analysis of Gears also and for exploding the hand to ball path myth.

I've been waiting for this one for a while! I had this issue last year and there isn't a lot of content around this issue. A majority of swing fix content is surrounded around coming over the top and slicing the ball. When I was pull hooking the ball I thought I was doing opposite of over the top and that made my swing worse. The start line is something I had to figure out and nobody has really addressed this. Great video, thanks!

My "Bad Miss" has always been the "Pull" to "Pull Hook" as I progressed up into "Longer Clubs". I am more conscious of "getting my Hands Down" at the start of the Downswing, and while this has lessened the Severity of the "Pull" to "Pull Hook" these can still be there. In the last week or so I remembered a Freddie Couples move of "creating an Inside Loop" with the Hands and Club. I'll focus on this "Rearward Hand Path" move in my next range sessions. Thanks, Guys.

Thanks for the vid. There’s tons of videos on how to fix/help a slice, but very few on hooks/pull hooks. I’ve been fighting them for 6+years. And it’s more frustrating then a slice. Most golf courses cater to the slicer but definitely not someone who hooks the ball. I fight over top and get handys and close the face and it’s not pretty.

I've struggled for years with knowing what to do with my arms/hands in the downswing. I never understood how I could possibly bring the club back to the ball by dropping my hands and turning. I've always had an over the top "arm-sy" swing as I tried to generate all the club head speed by moving my arms/hands faster. It is very inconsistent and I never know what swing I'll have when I go out to play. The last month, I've been pulling my short irons and wedges 20 yards to the left so this video couldn't have found me at a better time. This explanation clicked for me when no other has! You're absolutely right about practicing this drill at slow speeds first. I've been able to learn the feel as I slowly ramp up the swing speed. Thank you!

For the last month I have been working on trying to pick up a little speed and that has created this dreadful PULL shot that I could not figure out why I was doing this. I said I just had an epiphany from watching this video(this one) & I think I just learned the missing link to correct my pulls. The second part was my recalling your saying we can't really "see" the takeaway in 2D as it is. So I took it what felt a little wider & did a loop at the top. I call it the Infinity sign swing!

Hello Guys, great content as always. Working through your swing system and watching your videos has really allowed me to understand the need to get my arms moving before I press the rotate button. At least on some slow motion swings, this has made a big difference to my ball striking. Regarding this video, however, I have a question on lead arm adduction. I have seen and read that lead arm abduction is important for a correct golf motion. When I see Shaun swing,, especially in the first drill, to my eyes, the left arm stays pinned on the chest. Given I’m not an instructor, I’m likely to have this wrong, but would really appreciate your view on this point.
@AthleticMotionGolf
@AthleticMotionGolf 3 жыл бұрын
The motion of the left arm can work down the chest but it will not be pinned to the chest... What you want to avoid is the left arm being pinned to the chest(upper and lower arm). Part of what youre seeing is the camera angle distortion also :)

This is great info! I’ve got bad golfers elbow and flinch! I anticipate the pain at impact and yank it left. Against doctors advise, I still play even with mild pain. What can I do to avoid the flinching? Sometimes the flinching also causes my wrists to break on the follow through and not pronate.

Really love all your videos! Thx! Finally single digit, but I am a pull drawer guilty, mostly when I am a bit tired. Coming from tennis, I feel I am doing a « buckle » in the transition. From what you said I think am doing this wrong as my left arm gets indeed closer to my chest, but is that possible to avoid given we are turning the upper boddy? Just wondering if I am doing this right or not. (I am feeling I am staying away from the body until the top of the backswing, and then getting the left arm closer to the chest while it goes down. (Closer to the chest because I turn) The two other solutions I found where to transition more into my left side, or to have the feeling to start the downswing with my arms and the rest of the body follows (I used to fire the hips to much)

My round on Sunday consisted about about 35-40 pulled shots. After watching your video and a few practice swings it became so clear that my issue is a path problem caused by my hands. I can't wait to try this on the range tonight. Thank you so much. One thing I've never been able to figure out though. Why is the pull such a powerful shot? In my experience, whenever I pull a shot it's an absolute rocket and easily carries 1-2 clubs more than my normal shot.
@garyarnold5699
@garyarnold5699 2 жыл бұрын
Mike Stock, I have been told it’s because you are hitting the ball with a closed(hooded) club face and making solid contact. Do your pulls usually draw a little(or a lot)? I practiced this today and when done correctly I had a nice push to the right that drew back towards the target anywhere from 5-10 yards and went 10-25 yards farther than my “normal” straight shot. My divot was right of my target when done correctly where my normal divot is pointed left of target(even on straight shots). Still need much more practice to get it consistent but I am excited about what I saw and felt today. Hope you get the same results. Now if I can get my green reading more accurate I might have a solid game.
