Professor No for me, it's when he calls All Might better Superman. I mean, I get he hates Superman, but fuck they're literally exactly the same, yet he hates Superman because there's still crime, yet his villains aside from Lex are beings on his level, and there's hardly ever normal human crime that I see in the comics aside from when it involves Lex, and that's it. To me, every time I hear him talk about American comics I just feel like he fails to understand the characters, their powers, what they can do, and what's possible for them to do with the power they have. There's a podcast where he talks about All Star Superman and shits all over it, and I did a universal face palm when his arguments got down to "U.S comics should be written more like anime". I get people don't like certain things, but his hate boner for comics in general is rather odd.

Uhhh no it's not, there has been a lot of moments in Hero Academia where the characters depend on each other. Like Todoroki being convinced to use his left because of Midoriya, Lida realizing that he can't handle everything himself by those two in the fight against Stain. Naruto also has it own moments where characters stand for themselves. You can't summarize both animes like that when they each have their own moments and not one or the other.

Except Superman isn't perfect, I don't know where Pat is getting that idea from. "the crime thing happened because no knew he was there" All Might's presence is only stated to reduce crime, not stop. Just like what Superman's reputation does in Metropolis.

it has nothing to do with stopping crime, it has to do with both all-might and superman both being the strongest, the fastest and the best heroes in their respective fiction. all-might is so deified in BNHA's world that there are comicbook otakus about him (like deku) who idolize and worship him the same way we do fictional characters in our world. the reason pat has a problem with superman is that superman is by definition unstoppable, and that presents issues with trying to have a story with any tension, because superman can fix any problem. the reason he likes all-might is that all-might isn't able to fix everything. all-might at one point states that he has failed to rescue people, because he's not able to be everywhere and fix everything. but superman can move at light speed or faster, he CAN be everywhere and fix eveything. pat's favourite moment with superman was a moment where he couldn't save pa kent (i believe it's in all-star superman), because it showed superman COULDN'T perfectly fix every situation and devalue conflict. conflict drives a story, and if superman can perfectly resolve it, the story can't move anywhere. all-might is human, he can fail, his power and influence only reaches so far, and most importantly he can die. superman can't be any of these things due to his inherent traits.

yeah its literally the opposite from naruto as yes naruto is weak and then gets strong through the nine tails but the big reason why he is so powerful is the fact that his parents were 2 of the most powerful shinobi of their generation allowing him to have massive chakra control and the nine tails in the first place deku had to train just to receive the power

Rtkts Bakugou is very smart xD! He's one of the highest achievers in his class and he's a great battle strategist. What brings him down is his despicable attitude and arrogance. I'm personally glad that one-dimensional characters don't exist in Hero-Aca; we could've had smart rich-kid Iida and angry tsundere Bakugou if Horikoshi was a generic mangaka.

Honestly, early (first 120 or so episodes) Naruto with heroes doesn't sound too bad. I know Naruto has a bad reputation and everything but the good parts of that early stretch really capture what's good about shonen.

bakugou's intelligence is rarely showcased early on. it's not until the tournament where you learn that he's essentially the valedictorian of class A where his intellect gets hammered home. just a quick note, not only is deku not the smartest person in the series (that would be shigaraki, the only person ranked 5/5 in intelligence), deku's not even the smartest in his class, with momo, todoroki, iida and bakugou all having higher grades than him. as for describing it as "naruto with heroes", well, let's see. "a kid with a special power granted to him in a time of need (fox for naruto, quirk for deku) who's been ostracized his entire life for a quality he can't control, sent to a school where you learn to control magic powers that the show portrays in a scientific manner. the child then grows and becomes stronger, despite being limited by being bad at the magic while dealing with a quirky cast including the cute female love interest, the soft-spoken genius, the alpha female, the asshole ace rival and the weirdo. meanwhile, the kid has to take missions outside his lessons and grow through them, where he meets diabolical villians and battles he is not prepared for, but pulls through with wit and determination." that is an accurate description of naruto up until he meets jiraya and an accurate description of my hero academia until the training camp. my hero academia is early naruto, AKA when naruto was one of the best series available, only surpassed by one piece.

Some of the characters are kinda bland though.

Geeeee8 it's pretty generic shounen, it's just the shounen tropes done right. early naruto was also shounen tropes done right, which is where BNHA is most similar to it. shippuden goes completely off the rails and becomes a different show by the end of it, so it's not comparable.
