League of legends actually does tell you if the person you reported got banned and its so fucking sweet
@TheGraveyarder6 жыл бұрын
dota2 also and i believe valve also has the same thing on csgo because of the rampant aimbotting on that game
@Mochachocakon6 жыл бұрын
TheGraveyarder I love how in Dota 2, jerkasses not only run the risk of getting temp banned, they also get soft banned into purgatory by putting them in a queue with other recovering shitters which is a WAY better punishment.

League of Legends system is faulty as fuck. Even if you did nothing if you premade with 4 people you can report the same person and they will get banned (specially faster if you report the other team). It's faulty because they don't review reports they base it on the "number" Riot is retarded like that. That's why you can say nothing in a game and still get banned their system is garbage just like their game.

I would agree with Pat's assessment here: Anything gets big enough, and it turns into an unholy hell cult with a bastion of followers who are forged from the dung of Eldritch dragons. Like, son. For real.
@NotAGoodUsername3606 жыл бұрын
effluviah 1% of every fanbase is pure cancer. The bigger the base, the bigger that 1% becomes
@Triixster6 жыл бұрын
ALL FANBASES ARE SHIT and this statement has never stopped being true. Larger the fanbase, bigger the cancer. If you don't think it's bad: - it's too small/Unknown - you're oblivious and/or naive - you're apart of the problem.

There is no way Blizzard shelled out for dung of such high quality. It's Troll shit, at best. Note that it regenerates no matter what is done to it.

I suggest we scatter bear traps across the world, then put USB sticks with a post it saying "Overwatch cheats" in them and see how many hands get mutilated.
@Yal_Rathol6 жыл бұрын
if you think i'm stupid, you're wrong. you use a stick or something to trigger the trap, then you grab it, deconstruct it to get the usb, reconstruct it with a fake in its place, put it back and hide a camera nearby
@boxtank52886 жыл бұрын
Yal Rathol No, I'll do you one better, one of those USB destroyers DISGUISED as a standard USB! So now you've fucked up your hands AAAAAND your computer is essentially a brick now!
@Yal_Rathol6 жыл бұрын
Box Tank! a better plan, but if you think i'm just going to plug a random USB into my main computer, you're dreaming. nah, plug that shit into a burner laptop and see what's on it. if the thing melts, spread the word. still, lots of people are less cautious than me, so that's a more effective trap than pointy metal at least.
@boxtank52886 жыл бұрын
Yal Rathol exactly my point, don't underestimate carelessness and stupidity.
@ImaTroper6 жыл бұрын
Yal Rathol the usb is filled with anthrax and the bear trap is hooked up to a pack of c4. We also use satellite cameras to monitor who touches the trap, and a 300 ton slab of steel is dropped from orbit onto the house of your loved ones.

In terms of weird stuff heard over voice chat, Mortal Kombat X has it on by default I think, so that can be interesting. Once I lost an online match and heard a small "you did it daddy!" from the other person's mic.

EssenceOf Eddy Nope, you have to be pretty fucking messed up to have that even be a risk, even kids can tell when a videogame is a videogame.

What you do with the megacheatmode thing is not to outright ban them, but to send them into a playlist against fairly-realistic bots instead. It'd take them hours to figure out that they're griefing unfeeling computers.
@Rizer9116 жыл бұрын
Brandon Choate this is brilliant.
@nathanolney82926 жыл бұрын
Brandon Choate see, in theory that works, but I think that would eventually lead to a machine uprising, cause the AI would get sick of it

The AI would just turn on their own cheat mode and grief real players, but they lack the human touch to be really awful like we are.

At this point in my life, I consider myself enough of an old man to remember back when this sort of thing began. I remember when online gaming really got off the ground with the first incarnation of Xbox Live, and I'm pretty sure I played one of the first games to have XL functionality: MechAssault, which was basically just a 3rd person MechWarrior game with simplified controls. I remember the voice chat in those matches I played, and let me just say this: it's ALWAYS been toxic, since Day One it's been toxic. Any of you youngbloods who think there was some kind of golden age where that kind of shit didn't happen are wrong. Those early halcyon days of trash-talking taught me enough that I should have as little to do with those communities as possible.

I ended up no longer playing Overwatch back in June as I couldn't seem to have fun anymore with the meta, the throwing and the accusations in competitive play and the hatemail. You'd think overtime there'd be improvement for what already feels like a fairly old game. Boy does that not seem true *at all*

It's almost as if competitive games bring out highly competitive (IE hard-boiled) behaviours. I wonder if FIFA will have to slow down progress because too many soccer-induced riots break out.
@CaptainDoomsday5 жыл бұрын
You can be competitive without being a complete asshole, though.

Mega Cheat Mode should get you sandboxed, so you can't enter ranking, you can't enter tournaments of any kind, you can only play co-op against other people with mega cheat mode, and there is no way out of the sandboxed system.servers whatever, you are absolutely fucked no fun can really be had.

I had an idea like Woolies, mine was an agent smith that spawned in, killed you until the match was over(tea bagging you while saying "it is inevitable"), and then leaves. Until the next round.

Hell I was 12 when Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out, I play one match, and because I was naïve I said "I am 12" or something like that, that was 18 years ago. Some guy immediately says "Shouldn't you be asleep", and I always remember that. A lot of people have said this, but even pre-Halo 2 2004 online, I'm sure someone on either Doom or Ultima Online or Phantasy Star Online, some form of early on line gaming had dipshits either spawn camping or hogging the loot, etc. And seriously, people have said this too, but have the offending party go to a special server that they're banned to, GTAV had something like that, with a dunce cap I remember. But in all seriousness, just ban their IP address or piece of hardware that allows them to connect to the game, now some would say that's extreme, but at the same time, they are wasting the time of not just one person, but several people who, for one reason or another, can't or won't play something different.
@BlargleWargle6 жыл бұрын
Rainbow Six Siege managed to avoid this for so long because so few people were playing it. So now we're in a weird space where we're amazed and super happy about how large the game has gotten but that also means having to deal with all the idiots who think they're playing just another CoD or Battlefield.

@GigachadVTuberEnjoyer6 жыл бұрын
yeah, so i remember there is another podcast segment with liam talking about teammates losing games FOR you, and thats why mobas are the most toxic games in the world, because other people losing the game FOR you is the worst feeling ever. and because they are all ranked, if you actually want to win and rank up and climb ladder, you cant "just mute everyone" you have to communicate, and NOT communicating is a report-able offense
@MegaTyler936 жыл бұрын
It's kind of true tho I feel. If you are someone who is playing in a team-based multiplayer game but you don't want to talk to anyone, whether it's via voice chat or type chat, then maybe you shouldn't be playing a team-based multiplayer game then?
@TheNexDude5 жыл бұрын

any game that pushes for hardcore competitive over co-op will face problems with toxicity because competitive games attract and even create toxic gamers. I'm not saying Blizz should get rid of competitive, but it should come second tier to co-op modes

Pats a huge liar here. In outbreak key items can be picked up infinitely by anyone.
@essenceofeddy65046 жыл бұрын
Also RE File Outbreak DID have text chat with keyboard, i know cause by the time i was able to get an online adapter to play online (that was not included with PS2 until the slim) everyone already knew what to do so i had to text for info on what to do with the items i picked up.
@Khotgor6 жыл бұрын
Pat doesn't know what Outbreak is despite talking ass of it. He also is generally wrong about stuff that he assumes to be correct. There are very few Key Items in that are not infinite, at least for Wild Things. On Very Hard, the 14 coins of the 12 in Wild Things are one, along with I think the Syringes in Flashback. Pretty much it, and the Wild Things Coins only matter in Very Hard (and there are usually 3, 4 Syringes in Flashback).

I thought the ending was pretty clear. L puts his name on the page, Ryuk comes by to kill Light. "Humans are so interesting." Or whatever. It seemed like the movie was leading the audience to come to that conclusion. Maybe I need to stop thinking these movies are just being tastefully ambiguous.

yeah, but there's two extremes. the people who scream torrents of abuse because they can and the people who scream that they're victims of abuse and harrasment because they they're being killed by the other team in team deathmatch.
@DairunCates6 жыл бұрын
Let's be fair though. Only people the kind of people that are getting consistently knocked for their toxic behavior try to use that as an excuse.
@Yal_Rathol6 жыл бұрын
DairunCates that's incorrect. people have been arrested for disagreeing with someone on twitter, so it's not "just the toxic people".
@DairunCates6 жыл бұрын
Yal Rathol Yeah. That TOTALLY doesn't sound likea story that's missing some major details. Care to give a source, buddy? Because I smell bullshit. Also, people DON'T go to jail for death threats. So, what's your point? Your weak attempt at whataboutism doesn't change ACTUAL toxic behavior.
@TheDapperDragon6 жыл бұрын
See, this is entirely bullshit. This is literally "Hey, we're lazy, and not working, but we're going to blame the fans, because we're huge assholes." I'm not doubting Overwatch has the worst fanbase, I know it does. I've seen it. (I still remember a picture of that simpson scene of two monkies fighting, and they put the faces of winston and Doomfist on it, and all of the fanboys were 'that's not racists, shut up!") I doubt Kaplan gives a shit. It's easy to fix, but that would take effort, and if they wanted to spend effort on their game, they'd, ya know, made it good? A complete game? Made characters that WEREN'T just rip offs? But then this is the man who's entire response to balance questions is "you're a fucking scrub, git gud."
@quicksilver366 жыл бұрын
Overwatch is far from having the worst fanbase.
@TheDapperDragon6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I agree with the sentiment. Almost. Anything is hilarious if you're brave enough. It wasn't funny not cus of the racism, but just because it's a stupid simpsons meme. But you still gotta have balls enough to admit it. Not just cover your ears.
