Kyrie doesn't deserve to do what Lebron does, basically. Lebron can do what he wants, but if anyone thinks of doing to him what he's done to others, many people have a problem with that. People that I can't take seriously because they can't see the hypocrisy in their position. I really hope Kyrie proves all the doubters wrong, 'cause the vultures are circling waiting to feast on his failures.

CycleCruza true, but LeBron was a free agent so his teammates HAD to know that the possibility of him leaving was there. Kyrie DEMANDED a trade with 2 yrs left on his deal and without telling the most important player on that roster anything. I'm not defending LeBron but it's not an apples to apples comparison. It just isn't.

Michael, you're missing the point. Kyrie did not decide that he wanted to go to the Celtics, for whatever reason. He decided he wanted to play somewhere else. Can that be interpreted as not wanting to play with Lebron? Yes, of course. Should he ever publicly admit to that? No. Folks keep pushing this false narrative that if he did not like Lebron James or no longer wanted to play with him or under him, that he should be a man and just say so and that he should bow down before the King and ask his permission or inform him. The "King" is just Lebron's self given nickname. He is not actually a king or Kyrie Irving's king or master. The fake respect that people think he would earn from this type of honesty is bull. He would and already is being spoken ill of for not wanting to conform to everyone else's mentality of always riding the coat tails of whoever's on top. Remember, he didn't choose Lebron, the Cavaliers did. He should definitely only say complimentary things about the Lebron, his former teammates and the Cavaliers. That would be the professional and grown up thing to do.

Well, wasting time is kind of the point. Some sports fans just like watching the games, live or in person. However, there are a lot fans that like to then talk about the games, players and every aspect of the sport. That's why we'll always have sports radio and TV shows, books, blogs columns, etc... An interview like this may be frustrating or infuriating to watch, because we want to know exactly why he asked to be traded. We want him to either confirm our suspicions or surprise us with an answer we didn't expect, but he is of course under no obligation to give in to our voyeuristic desires. Also, he is a bit cooky. He reminds me of people I've known that have a severe personality disorder, like Donald Trump. They tend to view themselves and the world differently than what most would consider the norm. (norm being a somewhat subjective term to begin with)

Except for the fact that he didn't leave because he saw the ship sinking in a couple years. His contract is up in 2 years, so maybe he would have to play one season without LeBron possibly and a sorry Cavs team, then he would be free to go wherever via free agency. He requested a trade for another reason. He obviously didn't care where he was going to get traded, cause he had no control over that. The Cavs had full control. He got lucky to end up in Boston. He could've got traded to the Nets, and he would've still been happy. He just wanted out! There was definitely an internal issue that he had with LeBron. And yes, he has the right to not tell us.

I give props to Kyrie for being the only person in the Cavs organization that is brave enough to stand up to Lebron (who is going to leave after this season). People forget that Lebron has left two teams hanging (Heat and Cavs)...Kyrie got out of town before Lebron had a chance to leave him too and all these Motherfuckers telling him to stay for what??

So to your logic, Kyrie feels he can't win in Cleveland without Ledron, so he get mad at Ledron for some shit he didn't do yet, if ever. So he jumps shit to avoid being the man on a wack team. Ledron was the man on a wack team he took to the final and left when he him free agency, he didn't asked to be traded on the sligh like a fox. All luck to Kyrie, but I wouldn't want to be his teammate.

that interview made me happy he is coming to celts... and I dont think that he hates lebron.. I thought when he spoke of him he showed a clear like of him.. He just clearly has strong feelings that he is his own man and doesnt owe lebron anything and I agree. He skirted questions but he at one point said exactly why he left. Max said he was a killer and Kyrie said plainly , when lebron came back he had to figure out how to be dominant without the ball and he did but he also clearly said as a point guard he wants the ball in his hands and he cant get that with lebron and that is to me the biggest reason. He wants to be a true point guard. He sees guys like westbrook flourish without durant and decided he wants that.

To be fair, most people don't outright answer questions fully unless its something they are proud of or something they want to get out of. Kyrie was just doing his best not to create more issues. He might be telling then full truth, might not. But his answers sound a lot better than if he just said, "I don't want to play with LeBron anymore and I want to be the star. of a team." Because if he had said that, then all of the pressure and all of the criticism would be on him.

I understand that as adults we don't necessarily have to inform anyone of anything that we are doing but out of respect I think he could have said something, I mean him and Bron did make it to the finals 3 straight years together and won a championship together, but maybe they have a real life issue, and he doesn't respect Lebron IDK

ESPN is mad that Kyrie didn't answer any of their questions really. Why would he if you they're going to just talk about the why for the remainder of the year.

It seems clear Kyrie no longer wanted play with LeBron. I applaud his attempts to remain professional. He no longer wants to linger under the shadow of LeBron James. Like it or not, LeBron is a dominating figure. He commands a lot of attention and he controls the narrative for the organization. Regardless of the destination, the conversation is always about LeBron. And this is not to disrespect LeBron. He is a winner. We often assume winning equates to chemistry and recent history has proved us wrong; Shaq - Kobe, Durant - Westbrook to name a few. I wish them both the best. If speculation is right, they will be East and West coast foes on teams that are the best East of West coast foes of all time.

Bron is the King and the best player in the world, he does and says what he wants. Kyrie is not on his level and needs to stop acting like he will ever be on his level. When you're the best yes a scrub teammate should let you know about a decision to leave. The same respect should be given to Kobe, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Duncan etc.

He wasn't really at risk at being on a bad team because of the caliber of a player he is. Players have a lot more power now a days in their career. Whether they ruin it or improve it especially Superstars that sell millions of shoes and merch.

If LeBron does not commit to Cleveland when do you think about trading him? why is the talk always about LeBron being the best...etc. Kyrie has a right to be in a place where he has stability.

Cleveland isnt trading Lebron. He's their best chance for a finals appearance. As for Kyrie, he had no right to play anywhere other than Cleveland. He was just fortunate enough that Cleveland made a deal.

Kyrie Irving never told anybody that he didn't want to play with LeBron James. After finding out that the ownership have been trying to trade him behind his back he decided he was going to leave. LeBron James decided he was leaving to after this year. Kevin Love is also said that he's going to leave. It is because of the ownership. The same reason why Kevin Durant left Oklahoma. Oklahoma had let Reggie Jackson Leave. They didn't want to keep James Harden, they fired the coach, and then they turn around and trade it Serge Ibaka right after they didn't win the conference Championship against the Warriors. That's why I Kevin Durant left them. And at the time Kevin Durant did not know if they were even going to re-sign Russell Westbrook which they did after he left. Please stop making up false narrative. Please stop reading into what people are saying. We watch the shows to hear from the athletes not to hear people making up stuff is just disrespectful.

Well said! Everybody wants to be happy and he believed he would be happy where he is a member of an 'actually coached team' (David Blatt did his job as a coach and lebron had him fired because Blatt wouldn't let james 'coach' the team) and it is a 'truthful environment.' Remember: the Cavs had tried to trade him after they won the NBA finals in 2016 and after they lost last June too. They leaked his request to keep it private. LBJ never informs anybody his plans until he tells all his decisions like he did in 2011 and in 2014. Dan Gilbert is hard t please as he wouldn't renew contracts of GMs and fires coaches, partly because of Lebron.
