DayZ Beginners Guide: How To Stop Or Slow Your Shoes Wearing Out & Make Boots Last Longer

The survival mechanics in DayZ are amazing - even down to the way that your shoes & boots will slowly wear out over time, leading eventually to them being ruined and your feet taking damage and starting to bleed.
You can extend the life of your shoes & boots by making sure your run or walk on soft surfaces, like grass, rather than the hard surfaces of the roads, paths wand railway lines.
Fix your shoes with Leather Repair Kits, keep a spare pair or some improvised feet coverings (!) and you'll never need to worry about your boots again!

Oh gawd, Rob dont say things like "There is no slip mechanic in DayZ", because you know the devs will go..."oh, that is a good idea!" and break the game more trying to implement it.

running on train tracks will f your boots up quick! Found this out the hard way using tracks to navigate to NWAF. By the time i got to tent city they were done for. Didn't find any boots, died!

Started carrying the rag shoes, great to slip on when you need to sneak about.

I think the feet wrappings should be able to be worn with shoes like socks, as they historically were to reduce the wear n tear on shoes over time.

you sir, are a sole saver! haha but seriously thank you very much, going to save me a lot of shoes and leather repair kits. The improvised feet coverings are very clutch as well.

I've heard that jumping off ladders can also damage shoes and for the different terrain affecting shoe wear has anyone actually tested this?

Just to make you aware, they apparently nerfed the stealth shoes / rag shoes they are now as loud as trainers, not sure how the infected treat you whilst wearing them, some info in your vid is outta date, just to let ya know dude :-)
