Scaling Up Your Custom Apparel Business: How to Handle Big Orders with Confidence
Hey everybody, this is Kirk from Heat Transfer Warehouse. As part of the sales team and a visionary for the company, I'm excited to share my insights on handling large orders, even if you're starting with just a small cutter or a single heat press. Here’s how to scale up your operations without a massive upfront investment.
Always Say Yes
One of my favorite aspects of the business is managing big orders. Imagine you're at your kid's football game, and you've designed some cool shirts. A friend mentions they need 100 shirts for an event. Your first reaction might be panic - how can you handle such a large order with your limited resources? My advice: always say yes. Turning down opportunities means missing out on potential growth. At Heat Transfer Warehouse, we provide solutions that help you scale up without needing to buy all the equipment right away.
Leveraging Custom Cut HTV
If you receive an order for 100 shirts and time is a constraint due to your day job or other commitments, we can assist by providing custom-cut HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl). We prepare the HTV, ready for pressing, saving you time and effort. While weeding HTV can be enjoyable for some, doing it for 100 pieces is quite a task. We handle the cutting so you can focus on pressing.
Exploring Sublimation and More
Don't have a sublimation printer? No problem. We offer ready-to-press sublimation prints. Whether it's stickers for cars or custom rhinestones, we provide pre-made options. While you can cut rhinestones with your cutter, it's time-consuming for large quantities. We deliver them ready to press, saving you significant time.
Full-Color Custom Prints
We also offer full-color custom printed HTV and DTF (Direct to Film) prints. You can start small with just six pieces and scale up as needed. These prints are versatile and can be applied to various garments and accessories. Additionally, we assist with artwork preparation to ensure your designs are print-ready.
Expanding Your Product Range
Consider offering patches for hats, sleeves, or backpacks. These add a professional touch to corporate orders, and we can provide them ready to press. If you're looking to expand further, consider investing in specialized equipment like a hat press or a mug press. These presses allow you to diversify your product offerings, from hats to coffee mugs, and more.
When to Invest in Equipment
It's crucial to establish a customer base and generate revenue before investing heavily in equipment. Start by saying yes to orders and utilizing our fulfillment services. Once you have a steady demand, you can then invest in additional equipment like another heat press or a sublimation printer. Having two heat presses can significantly increase efficiency, especially if you're working with different temperature requirements for various materials.
Fulfillment Services
For those large, time-consuming orders, consider our fulfillment services. We can print, press, and ship directly to your customers, making it look like it came from you. This service is perfect for when you're pressed for time or when your customers are far away.
Embroidery and More
Embroidery is gaining popularity, especially for corporate clients looking for branded polos and hats. While embroidery machines are expensive, we offer embroidery services so you can say yes to these requests without the upfront cost.
Conclusion
Special thanks to Angie and Corey for inviting us to Crafting for Profit Camp. As a sales guy, I love giving you more opportunities to say yes and grow your business. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out via DM or contact Angie and Corey for our information. We're here to help you scale up confidently.
By leveraging the resources and services at Heat Transfer Warehouse, you can handle large orders with ease and continue to grow your custom apparel business without the stress of immediate large investments. Say yes to opportunities and let us help you figure out the rest.
